Leeds based label Outcross records has been consistently building on its reputation as a reliable outlet for floor filling house music for a while now, and here returns with another red-hot package. This one comes from Funky Fat with remixes from label boss Miguel Campbell, MAM and Matt Hughes.

Gui Santoro, Thiago Guimarães, Rafael Cury and Manu d’Alcântara are the names behind the Brazilian band FUNKY FAT that is taking the house scene by storm. Their sound has a strong crossover appeal that’s full of deep energy and funky grooves and has so far found support with tastemakers like Solomun, Jamie Jones and Lee Foss. To date the band have released on Hot Creations and got airplay all over the world as a result.

First single ‘Ride in the City’ is a gorgeous, sumptuous bit of house music with warm, creamy beats and synths and perfect neo-soul vocals. There’s a live feel to the percussion and twinkling keys that really strike at your heart. So does the bassline, a round, bulbous affair that is supple as it is sexual: this one is sure to be one of the hits of the summer.

The first remix comes from talented label boss Miguel Campbell. As well as turning out an album on Hot Creations, so has the man done an Essential Mix in recent times. He is at the very heart of the contemporary house scene and his remix proves why. Slowing things down to a sensual crawl there is more room to breath in this mix. The lulling kicks, heavenly pads and breathy vocals all sooth your soul and scream to be played at some pool party during the summer months thanks to their perfectly libidinous vibes.

Next up is the MAM remix – MAM is Miguel and fellow Leeds man Matt Hughes whose most recent works have been remixes of Climbers, Deadmau5 and Flight Facilities, as well as putting out releases via Wolf+Lamb, Future Classic, Hot Creations and Outcross itself. Together MAM up the disco ante with arp’ed synth lines, sprinkles of cosmic dust and lazy basslines that are delightfully uplifting. Buy this EP digitally and you will also get an exclusive remix from Hughes on his own. It’s a delightfully soulful and poppy affair awash with jazz chords and plenty of sing a long vocals that will calm you down and chill your right out no matter your mood.

Funky Fat then offer up ‘So Hot’, another breezy bit of deep and pop leaning house that is impossible not to nod to. Poised bass notes, louche claps and starry night sky keys all come together to magical and mind melting effect.

This is yet another terrific EP from Outcross that will bring both boys and girls to the floor all summer long.

Catalogue number 15 comes from talented Lithuanians 'Tropical Chaos' in collaboration with the gorgeous french singer 'Loumar'.  Perfectly fitting for the first sunlight they bring you what could well be one of this summers' hits. 'Leaving Train' is an easy, light and carefree tune, topped with the wonderful voice of Loumar, singing about leaving it all behind. The track is a bass heavy and playful tune, that is not only for club purposes. 
 
And to top that off we bring you three completely different remixes, which guarantee to cover a lot of different tastes in house music. The remix by Bachstelze and Fusion resident 'Madmotormiquel & Sascha Cawa', which is undeniably intended for the floor, is sure to shake up some clubs and festivals this summer. Next comes the elaborate take from UK trio Panda. They take the track to new heights by adding a great piano riff and creating the overall feel of a classic yet, modern house track. And you can´t help to sense a little "bossa nova". Last but not least you get a remix by Label head HRRSN. He keeps it rather funky and straight forward with his remix. David Jay & Sarah Brickel - Your own way (Original)

Producers Memo Insua and Damian Uzabiaga breathe new life into classic cut 'State Of Grace', which was originally released as a white label only in 2000 by electronic pioneers Swayzak, the seminal duo from London consisting of James S. Taylor and David Brown. The original production also featured vocalist Kirsty Hawkshaw. Insua and Uzabiaga provide an emotive update to the uplifting original, which saw massive underground support with the vinyl was selling for $400 on discogs. It remained an underground hit for years before Swayzak gave it an official worldwide release in 2005.Insua and Uzabiaga sent their rework to David earlier this year who liked what they did with it and allowed us to offer the new edition to fans for free.
Swayzak will relaunch the 240 Volts label via !K7 / Unearthed in April kicking off with the entire 6 album catalogue available as deluxe digital formats, the first two albums ’Snowboarding In Argentina’ and ‘Himarwari’ available digitally for the very first time. The 'Lost Tapes 1997–2017’ vinyl and digital compilation featuring unreleased versions and exclusives will follow in June alongside a brand new single from Swayzak & Richard Davis.

Cartoon life - At six years old, CORD LABUHN had his first real career aspiration : becoming an ‘inventor’. Or space traveller. At least working in some kind of laboratory. Hence he became a producer of beats, tunes, records, imagery & merch - and toured the whole planet to play music for the most spaced out...
Earlier, when the ghost of Jimi Hendrix jumped out of his parents record collection and passionately promoted the guitar as the weapon of choice for a leftist punk, folk, if not eurodance infected teenager of the 90s, the piano and his sister’s drumset would have to step back for a while. 

A few years later when TV was still the thing and gaming consoles like PS1 were battling N64, Cord the Beatmaker was rather staring at tiny AKAI S2000, MPC and CRT displays, head-nodding, turning the jogwheels, dreaming of a second turntable to complete his DJ setup - the true school, golden age hiphop way. Next mission - still as a school kid - was a self-released vinyl record with international distribution through a self-founded label – learning everything from scratch, only a few years before DJing went 99,9% digital, crazy fast and globalised anyway. 
Arriving in Berlin and founding the mashup label „BROKEN BOOTLEGS“ (with Exploited’s Shir Khan and Andy Szankay) was good sparring for more delinquent ventures in professional sampling culture. Musical diversion had found an anarchic playground, genre-bending seemed to be a welcome concept for a radical open mind.

To date, his longest running project is ROBOSONIC, which was originally formed as a DJ-producer duo together with Sacha Robotti more than 10 years ago. Over the course of time it became Cords solo moniker in the dance music game, since his former partner had emigrated to the US for a fresh personal start. 
A while after the unconventional, free-spirited debut album „Sturm und Drang“ (2007) Robosonic took the world by storm with a string of popular tunes and remixes that went into the crates of tens of thousands of DJs worldwide and made it to top spots in the infamous Beatport charts (“Worst Love”, “The Edge” 2012, “La Fique” 2013, “House Music” 2015, “Rise” 2016). With releases on labels like Defected, Toolroom, Get Physical, Diynamic, Stil vor Talent, Deep Dish’s Yoshitoshi, Nervous, Crew Love, Kittball or Mother Recordings, ROBOSONIC became an authentic figurehead for something dubbed “Golden Era House” (Juice Magazine). Not only because Cord was convincing real rap icons like Masta Ace, Jeru the Damaja and KRS-One to collaborate on house tracks, but also because ROBOSONIC remixed true legends like Todd Terry, Arthur Baker, Kerri Chandler and Eddie Amador.
The house & techno driven sets and records under the R°° flag are internationally recognised and performances in 45+ countries (and counting) reflect the universal appeal of a trademark sound Robosonic unleashed into the world. North & South America, most European countries, South East Asia, China and Russia, Egypt down to South Africa, Dubai to Australia, Lebanon and Israel. Cord Labuhn has seen and pleased hundreds of stages, clubs and crowds over the last years. And with the string of new Robosonic releases through Defected, Kittball, Mother Recordings and more it becomes clear that he won’t stop shedding club sweat and tears.
