Ciel, a Xi'an-born and Toronto-based music producer, DJ, and pianist, is a prominent figure in the electronic music scene. Her multifaceted career encompasses creating the women-focused concert series "Work in Progress," co-founding the multidisciplinary events platform, "It's Not U It's Me," co-owning the electronic music label "Parallel Minds," and being a member of the internationally acclaimed women & LGBTQIA+ DJ collective "Discwoman." Additionally, she hosts a monthly radio show on Rinse FM in London, UK. This November, she is set to release her debut album, Homesick, which features nine tracks blending her love for genres like drum & bass, house, electro, and downtempo with traditional Chinese instruments. Ciel took on the roles of writing, arranging, recording, and mixing the album, making it a heartfelt homage to her childhood musical influences and a response to the rise of anti-Chinese sentiment and racism in the media.

WORK REDUX MIX is a collection of mixes made to be listened to while working. We work closely with local and international DJs to assemble thoughtful music that will carry members throughout their day and introduce them to new sounds. They are created to lift our members up when they need it, or calm them down when concentrating.

I was thinking about all the long waits in line for Burning Man tickets over the years and decided to give some of you something to listen to while the walking person icon slowly makes its way across the screen holding all our hopes in its little tiny pixel hands. 

The wait time  is usually about as long as it took to get from one side of the playa to the other last year after it rained and the playa shrimp rose up to attempt to take over the world!! 

Burning Mud. Mudding man. Raining man. Remember the wild stories (all from the outside media or Diplo and Chris Rock) vs the kindness and generosity of strangers out on the playa. I hope, even if faced with adversity last year, maybe, just maybe, you also saw how wonderful people can be when called upon in a ‘crisis’. 

I was lucky enough to stay until Tuesday night and grateful to still get to play a sunrise on the Robot Heart albeit a few days later than planned. There was so much love in the air that (finally) beautiful morning. If you missed it or want to listen once more or are just bored and looking for something to distract you while waiting in line for this years tickets (I’ll be waiting too) then here’s burning man/mud/magic 2023.  Feel the love in the air and the tickle of playa shrimp on the soles of your feet.

Lee Burridge - Robot Heart - Burning Man 2023

Hello everyone, last year, as Christina and I made our first journey to Burning Man, excitement would be understated with plans to deliver an electrifying set at the iconic Robot Heart Bus after Lee Burridge. However, nature had other plans — unprecedented heavy rains and flooding at the event meant that, unfortunately, my performance could not go ahead. 

On my recent US tour, our ever-supportive friend, Benjamin from Robert Heart and the rest of the crew, extended a heartfelt invitation to play at their unique San Francisco-Oakland residency. 

This mix is not just a set; it's a token of appreciation to all who were there and an offering to those who couldn’t join us. 

Immerse yourself in a slice of the magic from that night. Whether you're listening from near or far, I hope it transports you right there with us. 

Looking forward to the next gathering at the Robot Heart residency in San Francisco / Oakland on May 9th.

For pretty much the whole year I’m either headed towards or away from Burning Man. 

Each year out there there’s this moment in space and time where I feel perfectly balanced between the two. It’s a moment where time stands still, just for a second. 

That moment is when the first ember of the day’s sun peaks over the mountain top to begin its journey once more. 

I try to find a piece of music to express the feeling of stillness and presence I get.  This year the sun was kind enough to arrive 1 hour 28 minutes and 40 seconds into this mix. I was in awe. I’m still in awe.

Some of the magic of the playa for me is where the nature blends with boundless creativity. Where love meets wonder and we get to laugh, dance and play. Add a dash of music for good measure and, for a moment, that magic catches its breath to take it all in, and stands still.

2024 was one of my favorite years ever. Thank you to all you artists and lovers, cooks and cuddlers. To all those who toil for months before and after to make it happen and to anyone who gave anything to another. You’re all amazing. I’m currently headed back towards (or is it away from) that moment once more.

Lee Burridge - Robot Heart - Burning Man 2024

We’re still floating on cloud nine, finding it nearly impossible to come back down after such a beautiful and intense experience. Playing on the Mayan Warrior this year surpassed anything we could have imagined—it was pure magic.

Burning Man is a testament to the boundless creativity and adaptability of humanity, where together we push limits and create unforgettable memories. This year, we truly lived a dream, a moment etched in our hearts forever.

We are deeply grateful to the entire Mayan Warrior team: Pablo, Amal, Jesús, Arturo, Linus, Thomas, Carlos, and everyone who made this incredible moment possible. You helped us realize one of our biggest dreams, and for that, we are forever thankful. 

A huge thank you as well to David for all the work since day one and Nico for letting us borrow that incredible synth and a special shout out to our friends who have followed and supported us throughout this journey, you mean the world to us.

Butterflies (Extended)

I like to imagine sometimes where the music will travel to. Who it will be given to or shared with. Whether it will be played at an after party in London or listened to on a set of headphones while watching the sun rise from behind a mountain in Tibet. I wonder which tracks you'll fall in love with instantly and which will grow on you as time passes. 

I know this is a really long mix and the journey into it and out the other side takes some commitment but, on the plus side, it saves you having to look for anything else to play for ages and ages.

 I hope you love the tracks as much as I do and thanks for listening.

Lee Burridge - Requiem For A Daydream

"2018 at BM was only my second burn and after my first (4 years prior) I did not think it could get any better… But this year somehow was 100 times better! I think this was due to camping with the amazing Pink Mammoth crew and family. Arriving there a few days early to help set up was incredible to acclimatise and hang out. So many people at PM are already close friends, but this year I met loads of new people who, I can now call family. 

At my first BM I also played at PM, although none of us can work out how I ended up playing there specifically haha! We think Derek knew I was coming and asked if I would like to play. Thankfully he did, because I instantly fell in love with the camp and playing there. Four years on, (and playing many times for PM at their events) it felt like coming home. Its so satisfying playing somewhere where you feel completely relaxed to play what you want to play, in a perfect environment.  

This set also was made extra special by an amazing (pre planned) marriage proposal mid set between Harrison and Felicity. Harrison had told me a couple days prior that my song “In Love” was one of his and Felicity's favourite songs that they shared together. He wanted to propose and asked if I could play the song for them whilst he did so. I of course was completely honoured so myself and Harrison arranged that I would play it mid set, about an hour in and would give him a nod to signal it. With his broken ankle (he’d broken it just a day prior!), they both climbed up onto the speaker, and to Felicity’s surprise, just as “In Love” started to come in, he proposed in front of the whole crowd! Of course she said yes ;)

So you’ll hear in this mix the volume dip at the start of “In Love”, which is a lovely memento forever recorded in this mix! Hope you all enjoy! Tim.”

It’s been a while since I played DISTRIKT last. After this years experience I’m somewhat kicking myself. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a crowd at Burning Man so wild and fun. The party was electric. Fire! And, it was only Tuesday. ‘Pacing it’ was obviously out of the question for the five thousand or so that joined me. The Robot Heart bus rolled up and plugged in. Hoj tore the place up before me. Our day party extended into night and most of us left with a smile on our faces and an electricity that carried us forward. Beautiful people swung above the crowd in a birdcage (is that safe I kept asking myself in my head)and hips wiggled and swung while the multi-level dance floor bumped and bounced. Basically, best day party at Burning Man ever ever. So, thank you DISTRIKT for giving me an extended set and an amazing party to play. Let’s do it again next year. It’s a date?

"It was a warm Thursday night and I rode up with my crew to the Mayan Warrior linked up with Robot Heart and couldn’t believe my eyes. 
In 9 years of Burning Man I had never seen so many people at one party. 
I always choose to play just one event during the week at Black Rock, preferring to spend the rest of my days and nights exploring and enjoying all the various levels of this incredible experience without the hassle of running from one party to the next. And preparing for my set around 7am I sensed that this was going to be a magnificent morning. I was a little nervous but I had those good butterflies swirling and as the vermilion hue of the pre-dawn began to rise, I stepped up and played this set that you can listen to now. 
I will never forget it.
Being invited to play the Friday sunrise on both buses was a dream come true and I’d like to thank all the thousands and thousands of people that joined me for this special moment and to the dedicated heroes of the Burn that made it possible.
