Happy to share a new recording from Kater Blau, Berlin. 

People fly all over the world to go to Kater for a reason. It’s a club focused on the music, focused on the moment, focused on the experience. It attracts the right people, who go for the right reasons. I love playing there. 

This lets me truly DJ in the moment. No thinking, only feeling. And this recording is a slice of what I’m trying to express through music, sitting outside a box: not just house, not just organic, not just progressive, not just melodic house/techno, not just tech house (or deep tech or whatever we call it)…

…a little bit of everything, as long as it flows and we all dance. 

As a side note, I’ve been getting more and more comfortable playing some of my own unsigned productions, so you’ll find a few tunes you haven’t heard from me before.

"I have a fancy friend who makes fancy hats. I told her I wanted a hat that would take us to magical places. So for my 10th year at Burning Man, my fancy friend made me a fancy hat.

This fancy hat did its work, taking us on many magical adventures. We found beautiful storms, deviant rabbits, bumblebee monkeys … And someone lost his red pants.

On the Friday night of that tenth year, I wore this fancy hat atop the Robot Heart. And we went on our greatest adventure of them all."

Oona Dahl - Robot Heart - Burning Man 2016

Every year on the Playa brings new lessons. Some are complex, some are simple reminders. For the two of us this past year, the message was "back to basics." As hyper-analytical DJs, we're prone to focusing on performance from a critical viewpoint: did we gauge the energy level correctly, were our transitions dialed in? But this year, playing after the sunrise on Friday, seeing so many friends and campmates out for a morning dance reminded that the point of all this is a simple one: coming together and sharing moments of joy. A wonderful and welcome wake-up call. Thanks to Robot Heart for setting the stage!
