Live in the Light sees Robot 86 marry dreamy, off-kilter, and detuned pads with searing drum breaks and jagged yet embracing motifs to deliver an excursion into old skool that feels futuristic and familiar at the same time. Built on a foundation of tape-saturated samples, Live in the Light provides a nostalgia trip that never ventures into rave territory but undeniably got its blueprint from the glowstick heyday of the 90s. As the wonky pad moves off its axis, the warped vocal and rib-tickling sub lets us know we're in for an experience, and that's precisely what this track is for every second of its modest sub-4-minute runtime. The crunchy break picks up the pace and ushers in the first taste of the waspy lead motif, but we never get comfortable as we're taken off again for a closer solo inspection of the thumping break taken up a notch. When the motif returns on top and the carefully curated sub-bass slides back in, it's enough for a near-aural orgasm. Alessio Crimi, born in 1988 in Leonforte, Sicily, is a DJ and techno music producer who has been active in the electronic music scene since the early 2000s. Known for his distinctive sound, Alessio describes himself as a "bridge between techno and electronic music," blending deep, hypnotic techno with various electronic influences to create a unique musical experience.
In the early stages of his career, Alessio became a prominent figure in Sicily’s nightlife scene, holding long-running residencies at iconic venues like “Tam Tam Disco” and “Murphis”. He also performed as a guest DJ at numerous clubs across the island, earning a reputation for his skillful sets and deep understanding of the techno genre.
After years of successful production and performances, Alessio took a break from the music scene. However, in 2023, he made his return to music production. Relocating to Grisignano di Zocco in northern Italy, Alessio reignited his passion for creating music, blending his foundational techno roots with a fresh, modern approach.
With his return, Alessio Crimi is poised to reclaim his place as one of Italy’s respected techno producers, continuing to evolve his sound while maintaining his unique perspective on electronic music.
