The first in a series of singles Figgy recorded with Brooklyn vocalist Angelica Bess (Body Language), Take It Back marks a turning point for the producer, moving heavier into songwriting and recording of live instruments. Live bass, warm pads and catchy guitar riffs lay down the bed for Angelica’s soulful vocals to pull right on the heart strings. While the subject of heartbreak may be a familiar trope, it’s the honesty and simplicity that make the tune stand out. The slight influence of 80’s R&B and boogie ads a feeling of nostalgia, but with enough modern elements to keep you in the present. With super catchy vocals, don’t be surprised when you find yourself singing along after just a few listens.
