Taking cues from disco pioneers such as MFSB and DFA, Sweden’s Drop Out Orchestra rose to prominence in 2008 with a seemingly endless arsenal of bootlegs, re-edits, and covers. Now teaming up with Mexican DJ sensation and Super Spicy Records boss Monsieur Van Pratt for their first collaboration, they have crafted a four-track EP of undeniably funky disco-house excursions, highlighting a shared passion for golden age disco, funk, and soul, showcasing their genuine appreciation of these influences.

Having already delivered two sun-kissed collaborations, longstanding Eskimo DJ/producer George Bakalakos AKA https://soundcloud.com/nteibint & fellow Athenian Matina Sous Peau return to the label with ‘What You Need’, another effortlessly light & breezy sounding disco-house number.

“‘What You Need’ is the kind of ballad that you can dance to on a sweet, warm summer night. It’s an echo of the disco sounds of the past, and Matina has the perfect voice for this kind of song, so producing this track and working with her again was a real labour of love,” says George. 

The result is the kind of track that would sound perfectly at home both soundtracking a boat party in the Adriatic and livening up the daytime playlist on the radio. A vibrant, catchy number that ably combines a pop sensibility with on point club production and a surprisingly introspective theme.

“The song itself is actually about looking within,” explains Matina. “It’s about an inner search during which you discover yourself, and where everything that stands true for you is suddenly revealed in a flash”.

Having previously worked on together on the soulful ‘Love Is Everywhere’ and the classic disco of ‘Back to the Roots of Love’, ‘What You Need’ completes a stunning trilogy for the two Greek artists, exploring and updating the club sounds of the past, reshaping them into something fresh and modern.

THRILLS & BEATS RECORDS present their 28th release: Introducing new artist ASTEEN with single “MY LOVE”.
Pierre Lemercier (aka Asteen) is a French producer, multi-instrumentalist and singer. Inspired by legends such as Stevie Wonder, Prince or Michael Jackson, and influenced by electronic artists such as Daft Punk, Justice or AIR, he’s passionate about beautiful harmonies and tight beats ; “It’s all about the groove!”
Invited by YANN DULCHÉ to produce a "summer-lover” Disco song for his new series of collaborations, Pierre composed and performed all instrumental & vocal parts (with lyrics written by American songwriter Sharon Gitau). His original version was mixed by Adrien Pinet, while Yann used the recordings to produce a club-oriented, old-school house remix. Together, they chose ANORAAK to produce a 3rd version.

ROBOTIKUS is the pseudonym of producer/musician Scott Targett.

The music is influenced by the Disco, Funk, and House pioneers of the 1970’s & 80’s. It’s a fresh blend of synth-pop, fused with contagious vocal hooks, classic drum tones, and groovy guitar.

Targett has been professionally playing most his life. In 2007, his Melbourne-band, Dukes of Windsor, signed to Island/Universal records. They kept a persistent touring/recording schedule, the ‘Dukes’ made their way to the top of the Australian ARIA charts, remaining in the top 50 for 20 consecutive weeks and became the ARIA #1 club song of 2007.

Now based in Hobart, Tasmania, Scott’s focus has turned to ROBOTIKUS, of which he is responsible for a majority of the production, and also performs weekly on the local scene.
