"Cosmic Pint Glass" is certainly not really famous yet but nonetheless one of the most promising new label from Uk. We noticed the imprint with its very first release by "Ruf Dug" and uploaded some tracks from their third instalment by "Duke Slammer" on a youtube channel of ours.  As winter kicks in its nice to know there are parts of the world where its still sunny and hot. Cosmic Pint Glass release an EP to help you get sweaty on the dancefloor while reminding you of these hot tropical locations. Artists "Simple Symmetry", "Selvy" (who will soon deliver a LYO mix)talented swiss "Jack Pattern" and "Pan Solo" have teamed up to create an EP of powerful heat!  Russian brother duo "Simple Symmetry" soundtracks the final leg of the ep using particularly tribal drums and a meanly played kalimba. Driving the track forward is an unmistakably bass line but our arrival isn't fully signalled until the Simple Symmetry chaps finally crack out the pan pipes and the whole village go mental ! Those familiar with the world of dub disco and modern Balearica should know all about Layne Fox, a San Francisco-based producer who has released some killer records over the last decade as part of noted collective 40 Thieves.

The Bay Area ensemble has been responsible for some killer records, including gems on Rong Music and Leng, who released their expansive debut album The Sky Is Yours back in 2014.

Now, Fox has decided to go it alone for an outing on Magic Feet that marks his first solo outing since 2005’s Move Me under the Tuffy alias. It’s something of a gem, too, effortlessly combining many of his familiar influences with nods towards druggy Italo-disco and horizontal pop.

Fox delivers two contrasting versions of No Runnin’ Away. There’s a Vocal Mix, where Sunny’s icy, atmospheric voice drifts over a chugging mid-tempo groove built around a Moroder-style bassline, swirling electronics, dreamy chords and metronomic beats. Typically, Fox also provides a tasty Dub, where select vocal snippets drift in an out of a delay and reverb heavy mix that also gives increased prominence to his stretched-out synths and late night electronics.

Magic Feet boss Craig Bratley handles remix duties himself, offering a complimentary but notably different interpretation. His version subtly emphasizes the track’s downbeat pop credentials, pushing the vocal to the fore above a sparse electro groove, dreamy pads and flashes of acid-inspired electronics. Think Cold Wave vibes but with actual production values, not pretend ‘mastered on cassette’. It’s the perfect accompaniment to Fox’s hypnotic, head-in-the-clouds original.

Rebolledo’s YOU AND YOUR HIPPIE FRIENDS imprint grows its groove footprint on international dance floors with the full-length debut of GÜERO @guerogroove, the latest vinyl outing from the Hippie Dance sister label and also its first fully fledged album project. To attentive hippie friends, the artist name should ring a big, funky bell – one that sounds exactly like the cut “Convertible Ride” from the notorious “A Very Nice Combinado Volume Uno” 12” release (YAYHF 01).

Back then, our hero was travelling under the somewhat more convoluted “El Güero Fresa” monicker, but has since dropped some of those conceptual pounds in an effort to reach maximum sleekness. In the same vein, his debut album is a testament to ultimate funk-a-ficiency, digging deep into fizzy arpeggios and chunky basslines - and the occasional guitar cameo, giving tracks such as bubbling synth opener ELEKTRONIQUE, the neon-lit NIGHT CRUISING, bouncing electro disco roller ALTO FINAL or the programmatic SPACE DRIFTER just that little extra riff.

GUITAR MAYHEM, however, is anything but – you’ll discover a pretty dank bouncer and certainly not the squealing meltdown one would expect. TECHNO MINIMAL doesn’t do what it says on the tin, either, opting for an energetic bass ‘n’ organ workout instead. By now, you’ll begin to understand why the album’s called MY WAY MY RULES: GÜERO takes whatever sonic path he desires, no matter what - which is precisely why he chimes so well with YOU AND YOUR HIPPIE FRIENDS’s steadily expanding motley crew of rave misfits and studio drop-outs. The way of the hippie is indeed a mysterious one.

Uncanny Valley have been prolific this year and once again are on hand to deliver yet another killer which is more industrial than a cybernetic organism travelling back in time to invade your dancefloor and give you a hammer to dance to. This is music.
