It cries not for you, but for the passing of my faithful dog, Nana. Please help yourself to as much tea as you like since I know you'll be unable to visit again for quite some time.

I chanced upon Jack Hill
Up on Wounded Knee
He’d slipped through the door
Of the Ghost Dance Wars
Where Hotchkiss mountain gun
Had done its chore 
300 unarmed Sioux
25 soldiers more
All mowed down 
In 20 minutes
No More
He was there then gone
As if a dream


Jack Hill was no more  
Now cut free from his name
All those frozen hands
Clutching the last Lakota land
From savage business men
Torn up treaty plan
Blown across frosty sand
He was there with every other man
Who’d ever fort in vein


I saw the shadow of Jack hill
Through a dream of foggy rain
He’s walking alone 
Back to his home….
He no longer owns his bones 
He fort the lie
His children bound to cry
When they find out where he’s gone


I dreamed I heard Jack hill
In the wind on Wounded Knee
In the dark of night 
When the moon is right
In the Ghost Dance light
Where there is no sight
Accept for histories truth

On the brutal might
Of ambitious fools

Saw the face of Jack hill
