Robsoul. He follows up 2018's ‘Tokyo Night’ with a brand selection of five crucial thumpers.
The title track ‘Music On’ leads from the front. Chunkier than a sumo wrestler in a bubble coat and laced with
subtle jazz motifs, it’s the stately, no-messing sound of Joss going back to the foundations he dug with Robsoul
when they introduced him to the world in 2006. It’s back by more sterling pedigree house cuts: the cheeky
sample funk on ‘More Than A Little Bit’, the dusty jazzy introspection on ‘Little Wonder’, booty-shaking electro
boogie on ‘Body Language’ and the piece de resistance ‘Walk On By’ where Joss’s hip-hop roots are just as
tangible as his soul’s connection with house music.
Turn it on, don’t ever turn off; Moog is back on Robsoul and the summer just started to sound 10 times hotter.

The „Sans rouge EP“ is a return to Greymatter’s sampling roots reminiscent of his early works on WOLF Music. A record that sits half way between house and hip hop, in terms of style and tempo. „Sans Rouge“ epitomises that mood: starting out with a hip hop groove that drops into a beat-down house chugger. „Royale“ drops things down to an even slower motion with another tough beat down groove, chopped and driven key samples and a catchy vocal chop. The B-side start with a nice goodie: this is the first time that the full length/12” mix of „Move Slow“ has a proper release (the short version appears on the „7 years who cares?“ 2x7“ on WOLF Music). Greymatter’s most popular track of recent years - more heavy soul chops this time pitched more towards peak time. „Billy O“ finishes things off with a slamming, choppy club jam laiden with strings and vocals. Another mighty fine Quintessentials release that shows all the talent of Greymatter!

Venerated DJ, producer and record label boss Ian Pooley makes his debut on Kwench Records next month, serving Cassy’s label its first release of 2020. 

Berlin-based Pooley is behind an arsenal of house and techno cuts stretching back to the early ‘90s, with his decade-spanning career earning him a hugely diverse audience. His extensive discography offers seven albums, including classics Meridian and Since Then; a stack of killer EPs that continue to grace the record boxes of DJs worldwide; and a string of outstanding remixes for Daft Punk, Yello, Sven Väth, Green Velvet and many more. More recently he’s fuelled his label Pooled Music with a run of self-releases, and continues to tour worldwide.

Pooley’s house tracks invariably endorse a deep, rhythmic sound while exuding warmth and authenticity. Title track ‘Good Things’ is a peak-time opening jam that adds power to the punch, while ‘Detour’ runs with the headiness, sending in uplifting disco elements and an unctuous groove. ‘In The Night’ rounds off the three-tracker with a propulsive kick, giving listeners a spirited, feel-good dousing of house music.

Phil Weeks is a house music purist. Whether DJing or producing, the Parisian with the huge personality delivers raw beats influenced in equal measure by
classic Chicago house and nu‐school French flair, underpinned with a hip‐hop attitude. His long running Robsoul Recordings also defines him as one of the
most skilled label heads in underground house music.
In the studio Phil is dedicated to classic hardware like Akai’s MPC 3000 sampler and Roland’s TR909 drum machine. He has released more than 250 tracks and
remixes since his debut in 2000, working with labels including 2020 Vision, Music For Freaks, Brique Rouge, Detour, Adult Only and his own Robsoul, which
is responsible for the majority of his original output. 

Phil’s work can also be found in the collaborations Fries & Bridges (with Hector Moralez) and PS Project/Bubba Beats & Kid Piston (with DJ Sneak). Production highlights include Phil’s three albums ‘Love Affair’ (2011), ‘Yeah I Like That’ (2003) and ‘Raw Instrumental’ (2012), alongside style‐defining singles ‘Hypnose’, ‘It Put Me Well’ and ‘All Day Every Day’. The music has been
heavily supported by international dance press including achieving accolades such as MixMag’s and De‐Bug’s ‘Album Of The Month’, while DJs ranging from
Danny Howells and Yousef to Mark Farina and DJ Sneak consistently play his tracks. Behind the decks, Phil has racked up enough air miles to take him around the
world several times over, with appearances at the world’s leading house clubs ‐ Queen’s Club, Sankeys, Circus, Ministry of Sound, Back to Basics and Stereo are
all regular haunts, alongside his Paris residency ‘Get Underground’ at the infamous Rex Club.

Phil has also fully embraced the relationship with his fans and house music fans in general – whether through his popular ‘Underground Chronicles’ video diaries
on Youtube or his personal relationships on Facebook.
Despite his success Phil isn’t one to brag. To him it’s all about keeping proper house music alive. Which just goes to prove Phil Weeks is a house music purist.
