Glasgow born producer and DJ, Gary Beck has long been established as a primary figure in techno.  Known and respected for his unique sound, he has gained support from the best names in the business and released music on some of the genre’s leading labels, including institutions such as Soma, Cocoon, Minus, as well as his own BEK Audio imprint.

Since his emergence onto the scene in 2007, Beck has accumulated an impressive list of achievements.  Highlights include a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, two Boiler Room sessions, featured music on BBC 1 Drama “Stonemouth”, and “God Save The Quine”, as well as numerous collaborations with exceptional talents such as MR. G, Green Velvet, Debra Debs, Mark Broom and Speedy J.

2012 saw the release of his seminal debut album “Bring a Friend” on the legendary Soma Records label.  It was their 100th album release, and this was a great honour for Gary.  His second album “Dal Riata” was released in November 2019 on BEK Audio.

You can also find Gary appearing under various different aliases, including Sosak and Tanera.

In terms of performing, Gary has appeared at some of the world’s largest and respected clubs and festivals, with shows at renowned venues such as Womb Tokyo, fabric London, Awakenings, T in the Park Scotland, Spazio Rome, Output NYC, Printworks London, and Timewarp to name a few.  In addition to a busy performance schedule, Beck spends time as head of BEK Audio, an imprint which has quickly become one of the most revered techno labels on the scene after releases from the likes of Floorplan, Mark Broom, Slam, DJ Rush and Ritzi Lee.

Gary said on approaching the 60th release, “I initially set up the label as a release platform for my own music, however that quickly changed.  I don’t put myself under any pressure with the releases.  It simply has to be really good!”

Chris Liebing is synonymous with techno. His legacy is long assured, but his craft never stops evolving. Whether as label head, podcast curator, DJ or producer, he continues to challenge himself and his audience to explore new realms in the electronic world. And often ahead of the curve, too, from the early, hard-edged and loopy 90s sound which is back en vogue today, through his more stripped-back turn of the millennium minimalism and onto the cinematic atmospheres and broader alternative electronica of his latest albums on Mute. It's no stretch to say, then, that Chris Liebing's story is closely connected to the story of techno itself. 

Liebing is considered a global techno ambassador, but his ambitious album projects and direct club tracks excite and innovate as much as any new school star. A proudly forward-thinking attitude ensures that is the case as his DJ tools and studio setup constantly evolve. He continues to be an early adopter of emerging technology, too, just as he was with vinyl controllers, Traktor and when leading the way with full hybrid/live DJing. 

These days, Liebing incorporates an ever wider sphere of sound into his own work. After an eight-year break from full lengths, 2018's Burn Slow on Mute was a creative rebirth that received critical acclaim and confounded all expectations. It was a melancholic mediation on gothic moods, looming apocalyptic landscapes and optimistic broken-beat techno that drew from his childhood love of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and the New Romantic movement. 

Remixes for Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp followed alongside a collaborative single with Charlotte De Witte, and 2021 brought a second album on Mute, Another Day. It found Liebing exploring all new ways of expressing both his euphoric and melodic side, all with high-grade technical skill and meticulous sonic craft with a range of collaborators from Miles Cooper Seaton to Polly Scattergood. This exceptional form continued into 2023 as he returned to the club with his Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP on CLR, a passionate and politically charged call to the dance floor that joined Liebing and Luke Slater’s remix of Depeche Mode’s iconic ‘Ghosts Again’ in the first half of the year. 

Though his music is underpinned by pulsating menace and a stomping sense of drama, Liebing himself is friendly with a famous smile. It is the music that motivates him and the freedom that comes with increased experience. These days there are no limits, no expectations, but a continued love for the art and craft of techno that is taking him down all new creative pathways.  

Chris will be performing at this year's Ritvales festival on November 2 and 3 at El Parque Norte, in Medellín, Colombia. RITVALES, is the largest outdoor electronic music festival in Colombia, presents the daily lineup for its 2024 edition. This week´s #AMFM show is the third and last hour of the set that I played at the @Great Wall Festival in Beijing China. This gig was the third in a row of my little Asia tour in May, which also brought me to Seoul and Tokyo the nights before. Great nights, and because of that and our flight schedule, we arrived in China with very little sleep. But who needs sleep when you have the Great Wall to visit. Our amazing host Yucheng took us to visit the wall prior to my gig at the festival, and this little sightseeing tour was quite fantastic. As we arrived at the festival, Carl Craig played a banging set on quite a stage that was designed in a historical fashion with an army of Chinese clay soldiers standing left and right and a DJ booth that was set in an old horse carriage. Now imagine all this, set right in front of beautiful mountains with parts of the Great Wall of China as a backdrop. Rob Zile's first EP was released in September 2009 on Artefekz Muzik.  Following this EP many doors were opened; from being asked to remix other artists to forging great relationships with other dj’s, producers and record labels from around the world.  It also gave him the opportunity to play his first international gig at the WMC Techno Marathon in Miami in 2010, sharing the bill with artists such as Perc, Spektre, Oliver Giacomotto and many more.

Rob hosts a radio show called ‘Brain Food Radio’ on Kiss FM Dance Music Australia every Tuesday night from 10pm to 11:30pm AEST/AEDT. 
‘Brain Food Radio’ showcases thought-provoking electronic music and is curated for people who want more than just the hits and the big names.
'Brain Food Radio' has been on the Kiss airwaves since 2013. 

In 2018, Rob took the next logical step and launched his own label 'Brain Food Records.'   @brainfoodrecords
