Too Young still maintains that pop-driven melody and instrumentation that you hear in the other tracks on their debut EP, however it pushes on new boundaries. It displays a new direction that SKIES are moving in, away from the purely midi-driven sounds and towards a stronger blend of organic and electronic sounds. You can really hear this through the incorporation of live drums, percussion and analogue synths in this track.

Part 9 of the Handcut Record Club marks the return of old friends as we welcome Husband Material onboard. Launching earlier this year with NME Radar’s track of the week ‘What Did I Do Wrong’ (and following a quick stint in our AIH vs Mac DeMarco sessions), HM prove who is the ‘Bigger Man’ – available now for free download as part of our HCRC collection. 

Having exhausted writing and recording as the short-lived Bos Angeles, Richard Board effectively strips preconceived ideals of how he may have evolved, championing minimalist melody and forlorn funk at its finest. Melting bass lines through intoxicating keys, it’s the impressive subtlety of swooning guitar cushioned by depreciative vocal that fuse the natural depth of Board’s pop sensibilities. Completing the group’s lineup are Charlotte Desborough (keys / vocals), Zac Harris (bass / vocals) and also of Bos Angeles, George Rothman (drums).

As with previous Hand Cut singles, Bigger Man will be released on lathe cut 7″ and limited to 25 copies. The 25 copies will be available from our shop here at 1pm today! As always it’s worth pointing out that because these records are handcut, they will sound slightly lofi!
