2011年より現場での活動をスタート。彼のDJはダンスフロアに最適なチューニングと、音のジャンルはDeep Hypnotic, Acid, Trance, Breakbeats, Phychedelic等のクロスオーバーなテクノでフロアの雰囲気を読みながら冒険するプレイスタイルが、多方面から好評されているアーティストだ。彼のmixは、2016年にDino Sabatini主宰イタリアのOutis Music Podcastを皮切りに、ドイツOut System、韓国Oslated、イタリアMunitum、そしてスペインTechnoTrippin'とArchaicからリリースしている。
彼がオーガナイズするBroadは2012年に東京でスタートし、音のジャンルはTatsuokiのプレイスタイルでもあるクロスオーバーかつ冒険的なテクノに拘ってきた。海外からはObjekt, Pearson Sound, DJ Stingray, Elena Colombi, Dasha Rush, Terence Fixmer, Dino Sabatiniなど、UK Bristolのbass music、Detroit Electro、そしてHardかつDeep Hypnotic Technoの世界各国で活躍するアーティストを迎えることで沢山の層から評価を買い、東京の中心的なヴェニューでもあったContactを代表するテクノパーティに成長した。
2020年春、新規開拓をするために福岡へ拠点を移し、現地の重要ヴェニューでもあるKieth Flackを中心に新たな活動をスタート。そこでBroadも彼が引き続きオーガナイズを手掛け、現在は隔月で国内の勢い強いテクノアーティストを招聘し福岡の現行テクノシーンを毎回盛り上げており、更に今年は海外のテクノアーティストも招聘予定だ。


2011년부터 DJ 활동을 시작. 그의 DJ는 댄스 플로어에 최적의 딥 하이프노틱, Acid, Trance, Breakbeats, Phychedelic 등 크로스오버 테크노로 플로어 분위기를 읽으며 모험하는 플레이 스타일이 다방면에서 호평을 받고 있는 아티스트다.
2016년 Dino Sabatini가 운영하는 이탈리아의 Outis Music Podcast를 시작으로 독일 Out System, 한국 Oslated, 이탈리아 Munitum 그리고 스페인 TechnoTrippin'과 Archaic에서 믹스셋을 릴리즈 했다.

2020년 봄, 신규 개척을 위해 후쿠오카로 이주 후 후쿠오카의 중요 베뉴이기도 한 Kieth Flack을 베이스로 새로운 활동을 시작했고 Broad도 그가 계속 오거나이즈를 맡아 현재는 격월로 국내의 강력한 테크노 아티스트를 초빙해 후쿠오카의 테크노 신을 매번 뜨겁게 달구고 있으며, 나아가 올해는 해외 테크노 아티스트도 초빙 예정이다.

Guest mix to "BAIHUI Live", China-launched independent radio station to feature talents in China and across the globe. The program is hosted by Berlin-based rising talent @templerat .

I created a mix that embodies the vibrant summer atmosphere. The theme of the mix is titled as "Californian Psychedelia." Drawing inspiration from my memories of California during my teenage years, I adorn the mix with numerous sparkling sounds, with the heartfelt prayer that listeners would feel utmost happiness. While primarily exploring house and disco dub, I add a psychedelic and trippy ambiance by incorporating elements of rock into the sound.

The ‘psychedelia’ experienced in California, which served as the theme for this mix, was reminiscent of everyday life. From the majestic wineries bathed in the radiant sun under the blue sky to the scent of the ocean reaching from the pristine coastline, and the drives along the highways that connect vast lands. Extending your hand from a running convertible, the soft yet slightly dry air caresses your skin, and with each encounter with such a breeze, it feels like returning to one's true self, one by one. Enveloped in the gently flowing time, there is the presence of the person beside you in those moments—experiencing the sun and the earth together with loved ones, friends, and family, and feeling the undeniable presence of love when gazing into each other's eyes. This was the interpretation of psychedelia in this mix.

With this mix, you may dance with friends on a terrace, take a walk in town/nature or feel the sunlight under the blue sky… I hope each one of you can feel the beauty of this present moment, the beauty of being alive. With the intention of adding a touch of sparkle to this summer and wishing everyone a wonderful time, I send my love and prayers. ✨🕊

Mars89 is a musician whose uncompromising electronic compositions have cemented him as one of the most unique and exciting prospects within Tokyo’s underground club circuit, but his contribution to the city’s culture extends far beyond the dancefloor.

Since moving to Tokyo in his late teens in 2008, Mars89 has established himself as someone whose creative output—in all its shapes and forms—provides a vital perspective on the vicissitudes of living in one of the most populous urban metropolises in the world.

His discography to date is a bricolage of styles, channeling the guttural, sub-bass-infused body music from UK dubstep’s heyday and the mutant rhythms of Bristol’s signature bass music scene—some of Mars89’s foundational musical influences—as well as the auteurs of cinema, from Kubrick to Lynch, and, specifically, their unparalleled flair for all things eerie, abject, and uncanny. In his arsenal, he possesses tracks that can immediately ignite the latent energy of a heaving club crowd, as well as ambient compositions that transport listeners into unsettling alien landscapes evocative of sci-fi dystopias and biotechnological collapse. It’s his ability to weave seamlessly between the two that sets him apart as an artist who ultimately uses his sensibilities to design entire worlds, and this is also reflected in his boundary-pushing VR explorations with the label Bokeh Versions and collaborations with designers like Patrick Savile.

Outside of music, Mars89 has collaborated with fashion brand Undercover's Jun Takahashi on a collection that deconstructed military garments, making them into a powerful anti-war statement in true punk spirit, as well as releasing a record through the brand. The latter referenced the show soundtrack he had created for Undercover’s AW19 collection and featured remixes by Thom Yorke, Zomby, and Low Jack, whom he had played alongside at the Takahashi-curated installment of Virgil Abloh’s club night, Sound Design. All three of the artists signed up for remix duty immediately upon request, demonstrating how highly regarded Mars89 is by his global contemporaries.

Mars89 is also a key figure within Tokyo’s activist community, spearheading an anti-establishment ‘Protest Rave’ that has seen sound trucks drive through some of the city’s most iconic vistas while blasting out hard techno, galvanizing Tokyo’s youth into new, emergent strands of political engagement.

I felt it was the right moment to dive into the more relaxed side of my musical explorations. After all the fast groovy dance sessions at all sorts of places this year, it's great to dive into the profound deep side of things to get some new inspirations 🪸
Never forget that each tempo has it's own shiny moments, it's great to explore all of them 💓
