The story of King Street Sounds starts at the Paradise Garage in New York City, the iconic nightclub that birthed the soulful house music movement. Once home to the late DJ Larry Levan, the Paradise Garage has had a major influence on the career choice and artistic style of house royalty such as David Morales, Louie Vega and Junior Vasquez, and was a keystone for the region's LGBT culture, particularly for Black and Latin American men. This spirit, along with the iconic music the Garage cultivated, inspired the foundation of King Street Sounds in 1993. 

Japanese founder Hisa Ishioka continues to spearhead the label’s output, maintaining King Street Sounds’ position at the forefront of dance culture. Predominantly focusing on its roots in house music whilst also pushing the sonic boundaries of the label to include Afro, Latin, jazz and tech-infused records, King Street Sounds has a global repertoire with a worldwide following. Household names such as Blaze, Barbara Tucker and Ultra Naté released exceedingly successful records such as ‘Most Precious Love’ and ‘Party Girl’ on the label, while house legends Kerri Chandler and Dennis Ferrer signed their seminal albums ‘Trionisphere’ and ‘The World As I See It’ to King Street Sounds. 

Fast forward to today, King Street Sounds continues to honor the legacy of the past thirty years, weaving its music into the modern ecosystem to educate and entertain new ears and existing fans. Through the continued work of label founder Hisa and a dedicated team of dance music experts, a new wave of talent pumps the beating heart of this legendary label.

Pantelis Kotakis a.k.a. DJ Pantelis has been spinning
professionally for over 20 years. His unique style, remixing and desire to be the best,have propelled him to the top of the Greek and International DJ/Production scene. Playing both Tech House and Tribal  House, his tour of duty (outlined below) has taken him all over the world to over 200 different destinations.
DJ Pantelis has created the biggest and most loyal patron following ever noted within the Greek music scene and is one of Europe’s top international DJ’s.
Dj Pantelis began producing music from the age of 16.He has started creating some home made remixes with an analog Fostex R8 Multichannel tape recorder and a sample player keyboard from Casio.In 1989 he has started building his studio based on an Atari St 1040 running the first version of Cubase for Atari format.Later he started working with a variety Roland analog synths like the legentary Roland W-30,Juno 106,Roland S750,TB 303 and JV1080.In 1995 he has started producing into PC platform running a Cubase version. Today he is working on a modern digital / analog studio with the best soft and analog gear of the market.He is one of the most successful Greek producers in Europe with alot of projects from various genres of dance music.

“Music is my life” is often an over used slogan. But being born into a musical family, this quote is a true attribute of DJ Marcuis aka Electro Bro. It has been because of this early love of music that Marcuis ventured into the life of an international music professional.

DJ Marcuis is recognized as an innovator and driving force in the Carolina house music scene. His music and production style is a fusion of soulful and inspirational house to tech house.

Originally, house music was not the a main focus of DJ Marcuis. He credits his wife, who is a true househead, for pressing him to play more house music in his sets. The more he played, the more he loved it. But it is the uniqueness of his house music selections that sets him apart from other Djs. DJ Marcuis states, “I love to mix soulful and inspirational house music. I love the melodic baselines and strong vocals. This style of house music reminds me of my church roots. I know this style is different from the norm. I don’t just make or play music to be making or playing music. The music I play and produce has to have meaning . . . and purpose.”

Since the mid 90′s, DJ Marcuis has spinning his special flavors of house music in the US. In 1998, he renovated and opened Club Salt Shaker in North Carolina. In 2001, DJ Marcuis created and launched the independently syndicated radio program “Cross Culture Radio”, a 2 hour radio show that featured the latest in soulful house music seamless mixed on several terrestrial radio and internet stations. Today, Cross Culture Radio has been rebranded as Salt Shaker Radio and is currently aired weekly on internet radio stations worldwide. In 2006, Salt Shaker Productions was established as an event production company. Salt Shaker Productions has produced several festival events in the state of North Carolina and continues to create and produce events during the Winter Music Conference, IPM Rome and in Ibiza. DJ Marcuis launched Salt Shaker Records in early 2010. Salt Shaker Records focuses on the creation and promotion of quality house music that impacts this world.

Salt Shaker Music Group was created by DJ Marcuis in 2013 as an umbrella organization to manage the business of Salt Shaker Records and Salt Shaker Production. DJ Marcuis and the team at Salt Shaker Music Group are creating music brands and products aimed at impacting this world through dance music.

It is through these avenues that DJ Marcuis will fulfill his creed, “The world is my stage. House music is my voice. It’s time to be heard.”
