This is our premiere of Ross Harper’s remix of apaull’s title track ”Blue Tape” from the upcoming EP on Furnace Room Records

”Blue Tape is the fourth single from dutch-canadian electronic music producer apaull’s just released debut album “Fought & Won”. This 8 track LP was executive produced by Abe Duque and is on the furnace room records label. The album was crafted with the usual apaull aesthetic of dance, by all means, but if you like, listen for the messages that can be heard. 
The single Blue Tape explores the foibles of televangelists. In my evangelical youth those were the icons you looked up to. It turns out that those that preach morality and sanctity are plagued by the same, if not worse, temptations than the rest of us. While we strive to be perfect, they feel free to act out on those temptations. 

In Brighton, UK based producer Ross Harper’s remix he completely strips Blue Tape to its more danceable essence in a minimal techno meandering. Ross has an unswerving devotion to electronic music ever since his heady baptism in the 90s London rave scene which culminated in an intense 5 years of studying music produc- tion. Since then, he has spent a lifetime delving deeper and deeper into production. His music has been compared to Jon Hopkins, Robert Miles and Orbital. Although these similarities are discernable, its clear he is simply an artist determined to do his own thing. His ‘Dark Album’ with its gargantuan number of remixes is something to behold.”

Ross Harper has an infectious love of music.

Harper holds a monthly residency with underground techno party The Luces Phenomena in his hometown Brighton, UK where every DJ set is a blank slate waiting to be written, playing anything from techno, deep house, dark disco, breaks, progressive house, cool ambient and everything in between.

A respected producer in his own right, Ross’s productions are rich and varied. 

Harper’s 2022 LP, The Dark Album made the front cover of Mixmag, a feature in Decoded Mag, had plays from Richie Hawtin and Charlotte de Witte called it “beautiful”. 

Now 2023 sees the remixes coming thick and fast with the AMAS remix of My Gift already being picked up by an early inspiration for Ross Harper, none other than the maestro John Digweed, who played it in his guest mix for Circoloco radio.

Meanwhile, Harper’s Ambient Girl series explores downtempo and has seen support from Cici, Lemonella and Ben Malone on Kiss FM. In 2020, In Your Eyes e-zine dubbed it as “strong candidate for electronic album of the year”. 

Earlier Ross Harper’s works have been supported by industry legends like Laurent Garner, Martin L Gore of Depeche Mode and Nemone on BBC Radio 6.

Ross is also founding father of City Wall Records, where his A&R skills have signed tracks played in numerous Boiler Room sets including SNTS at Kompass and Ancient Methods in Berlin.

Harper presents a monthly two hour show  on AAJA on the fourth Monday of every month at 1800hrs where he shares a plethora of cutting edge new underground releases.
