"I often build mixes up from light, floaty frequencies, slowly layering in sounds, but for this mix, I wanted to be right in the intensity of the situation from the start.

This story follows an abandoned spaceship, adrift in the depths of the cosmos. Something strange and perplexing has happened here. Unnerving and claustrophobic from the get-go, this initial constriction of pressure is gradually unwound as the mix twists and turns through a variety of ominous soundscapes…"

Raised in the underground music scene of Buenos Aires, recent years have seen Blume (@keinblume) continue to hone her vision in Europe - first in Amsterdam and now Berlin. With a complex approach to beat programming, hip-hop inspired use of samples and a melding of odd melodies and experimental textures, her sets are distinctive, technical and enthralling in equal measure. 

A passionate contributor to the scene, Blume hosts the bi-monthly show "The Otherness" on @noodsradio, and runs the record store Format Wars, which provides her with another channel to express her unique tastes - from lavish ambient to bracing jungle and beyond. Originally a digital shop, Format Wars will move into a physical space in early December 2022. 

Blume’s Patterns of Perception 104 is an homage to a multitude of formative moments in Berlin: indelible, visceral musical experiences that have shaped her vision and being. 
Crystal clear reflections of hazy sequences in which the unexpected became the norm. An emotional connection of disparate times as unfettered energy warps into mind-bending experimentation. Sharp polyrhythms expanding out of mesmerising, high-speed techno trips. Endless energy and motion. 
This mix reflects the feeling and eclecticism of odd Berlin nights - the discovery, the euphoria and the memories that never die.

Patterns of Perception 104 - Blume

We have been eager to share this new chapter of our Podcast Series with you for a little while. It comes courtesy of the Basel-based Timnah Sommerfeldt, the empress of all things occult and hypnotic in the realm of electronica 🔮

Part of the well-respected amenthia recordings crew, co-host of Home Radio she runs together with Garçon and a resident at Elysia ~ arguably one of the most loved clubs in Europe ~ Timnah is a well seasoned DJ with strong sensibility in navigating the the deeper, headier waters of techno and atmospheric bass 💫

Timnah’s introspective contribution is a perfectly balanced blend of deep, aqueous drones and murky downtempo carving out and holding space for the patiently emerging stormy rhythms taking the reins for most part in the second half of the mix. Time to brace yourselves for a one way journey into the maelstrom. Safe travels, friends 🌝🌚

Thrilled to host one of my current favourites & major inspirations, the insanely talented @polygonia for number #120. An ever-impressive force,  Polygonia known for her driving, organic & eclectic productions & beautifully deep, percussive dj style.

I was lucky enough to see Linni play live at Monument festival in Norway last year and was blown away.. her ability to seamlessly fuse psychedelic melodies, driving basslines & unique percussive rifts, all in a somehow soothing yet driving manner, is truely a work of art.

Faery is a London-based DJ whose hypnotic selections weave together the psychedelic reaches of deep techno, tripped-out psy, and dark, vortex-like DnB. A lover of both pitched-down chuggers and fast-paced rollers alike, her sound connects the dots through a focus on intricate sound design and rich, moody textures. Over the past year, she’s played at iconic venues and festivals across Europe, including Amsterdam’s De School, Positive Education Festival, London’s Village Underground, and Berlin’s Renate. Alongside her club appearances, Faery explores the world-building potential of sound, connecting it to her interest in environmental theory through her Bio-17 sound art project - where original biorhythmic samples are woven into experimental ambient to create speculative sonic worlds. 

I have been following her rise in the deep techno scene over the last year.  I saw her play at Village Underground with pedigree players Konduku and Donato Dozzy.  Her ethereal music journeys have captivated audiences in London and an ever-growing international following in France and beyond.  She loves and appreciates the clubbing community so much. Her Soundcloud is filled with her responses to followers, always happy to share IDs.  I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing and photographing her for my new night Temporalities happening on the 30th of April.  She comes in tonight to offer a taste of what she will bring to the booth on the 30th at club Venue MOT.
