'What Came First' is a new label dedicated to House and Techno, which has been set up by the people behind the infamous EGG London club venue.

The new release is from Manu Gonzalez who is a DJ and producer born and raised on the Spanish island of Ibiza, who has become one of the island's top club spinners playing regular DJ sets at venues like Space, Pacha and Privilege.

Also a successful producer Manu has releases on Natural Rhythm, Isgud Records, Cr2 Records, and Hot Since 82’s label Knee Deep In Sound.

Regularly collaborating with Secondcity, Manu's music has also racked up peak time radio support from Annie Mac.

Through his legendary Ibiza DJ sets he caught the attention of the world, coming on top at the 2015 DJ Awards in the 'Ibiza DJ (Vicious Magazine)” category, and most importantly Pete Tong, who recently asked Manu to do a guest mix for his much famed BBC Radio 1 show.

Creating a tapestry of vocal textures, 'Back To 80' has a timeless sound with an evocative lead synth and prominent bassline. With a warehouse vibe and subtle rave influence, it's peak time and tailor made for the club. 

“Like This” focuses on an old-school drum break and MC style vocal samples that have a subtle Hip Hop influence. Smooth pads playing a held chord add tension and add to the tracks reminiscent vibe that fuses retro sounds with modern ideas. Perfect for any party, it fuses underground ideas with big room appeal.

“Last Call” has the rolling groove of looped live percussion, which forms the back bone of the track. Jazz influenced moody pads and quirky melodies blend with muffled vocals whilst the bassline provides the forward momentum. The perfect combination of musical elements, this track is both chic and dancefloor focused with just the right amount of swing.

Mid-April sees the return of Manchester duo System2 to Roush to deliver a fresh, four-track EP entitled 'Groove'. Having emerged as two of the UKs most exciting rising talents in recent years, Manchester duo System2 have gone on to firmly established themselves as names known to many across the global scene. Owners of their own label under the same name, releasing music from the likes of Los Pastores and John Dimas, the duo have found heavy support amongst the likes of Steve Lawler, Jamie Jones and Apollonia, whilst releasing material on VIVa, Oblack and Origins Rcrds to name just a few. Having last touched down on Roush in early 2016, they return this April to serve up four fresh productions typical of their percussive driven sound. First up, the lively 'Break The Groove' combines the duo's innate ability to construct slick percussion arrangements with elements of US breakbeat, frenzied background interjections and echoed out vocals, whilst 'Funk Stash' switches up the aesthetic to introduce more organic, skipping drum licks, low slung rhythms and vibrant coos. 'Match Point' opens up the second half of the package as a series of powerful female vocals take hold over shimmering hats and a driving bassline, before the stripped back 'Mustards Groove' injects a splash of groove and funk to round out another impressive EP from the UK duo. System 2 'Groove' is out on Roush on 16th April 2018.
