When Leah from 2bscene hit us up to come play at sugar in Adelaide, the last thing we would have ever thought is that it would be the last set ever in the club. We found out the night before that sugar would be shutting its doors for good after the weekend - what an honour to shut down such an institution and give that condesa one last workout for the good people of South Australia. Jill Krecké aka GURL (https://soundcloud.com/j1ll) is a Luxembourg-born, Brussels-based artist & archivist. We met more than a decade ago on the dancefloor of Fuse Club, Brussels. Ever since, we’ve stayed close music/clubbing friends and swum through different moments in our lives, forever positively connected and supportive. 

Properly balanced and in the pipeline for some years (!!!) now, Gurl’s Basic Moves podcast demonstrates her love for detroity electro, wonky breakbeats and dusty techno. Her passion and skills for mixing and digging up this specific sound of dance music have forged her a steady presence in the electronic music scene of Brussels. Since she started performing as a deejay at the age of 22, she’s became part of various projects (Brüxsel Jardin, C12, Planet), not only as an artist but also as a promoter and safe spacer.

This podcast has been a real journey for me… like flipping through the pages of an old journal, seeing how my taste has shifted, evolved, and expanded over time. But even as I grow, I always keep that kid in mind… the one with gauges, blasting Senses Fail and Taking Back Sunday, feeling everything way too much..

My love for EBM, techno, and electro isn’t something new. It started back in my earliest encounters with electronic music… first as a raver falling hard for the Libertine sound, where everything felt raw, rebellious, and punk as hell. That energy never left me.

Making this mix felt like I was searching for something… meaning, maybe, or some forgotten part of myself. Each track came together not because it was supposed to, but because it felt right. It wasn’t about making something crowd-pleasing or polished… it was about letting the music speak, letting it pull me wherever it wanted to go. And honestly…I had the best time making it.

This isn’t a background listen. You don’t have to get it. You don’t have to like it. But if you give it a chance… if you let it sink in a little… it might just move you.
