in my mind, right here, inside.

What should I do with this madness of you…
that stays here when you go away?

If he could see me completely
in the shadows of my thundercloud.
Would he treat me so sweetly,
find a rainbow in the storm somehow?

Time, please be kind,
keep our future forever open wide…

He seems to need me, but I don’t believe
We’ll be together when the sun comes out.

In the evening, by the fire,
play the pictures
that feed my disquiet.
He’ll break my umbrella,

I'm a NorCal based Songwriter, Record Producer, Composer and Guitarist.

This is the place to hear all the songs & music I write & produce.

I write music in the Pop/Rock/Electronic realm and sometimes crossover into other genres for fun. I also score movies from time to time. 

Besides writing and releasing my own songs, I produce and develop rising Pop and Indie Rock artists. 

My musical influences are broad. In no particular order I would say: My pianist father Georges Rubissow, Chopin, Butch Vig, The Beatles, Underworld, Miles Davis, Elliot Smith, Garbage, Caetano Veloso, Earth Wind & Fire, LTJ Bukem, Ennio Morricone, Santana, Radiohead, William Orbit, Brian Eno, Shania Twain, Prince, Gypsy Kings, The Pretenders, Mutt Lange, Pink Floyd, Hans Zimmer, Digital Underground, Sting, Beethoven, Neil Young, Herbie Hancock, Caravan Palace, Norah Jones, Michael Jackson, Elvis Costello, Keith Urban, Kayhan Kalhour, Allison Krauss, Pat Metheny Group, Foo Fighters, Pop, Rock & Electronic music in general and countless loud rock and dance shows.

Whatever the music is, I want it to be in my face. It doesn’t have to be loud. It has to be real. I want it to be full of emotional power and to bravely show it. I want to feel it.

An American/Canadian, I grew up in Berkeley, California and then in rural Devon England during the 70s. I played violin as a kid, but at age 13 I suddenly announced I was dropping violin to take up guitar instead. 

As a young guitarist I was amazed by the sheer power of Led Zeppelin, Boomtown Rats and BB King. I taught myself all their songs by ear from listening to cassette tapes over and over and over again late at night - driving my mom and sister absolutely mad.

My Dad was a physicist/pianist and through him I developed a keen appreciation of Liszt, Chopin and Beethoven’s piano works. I memorized the melodies of their famous etudes, preludes and sonatas as I fell asleep hearing my Dad play them downstairs at night.

My sister loves Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Commodores, Chicago, Marvin Gaye & Aretha Franklin. And through our home stereo system I discovered all kinds of amazing music in my sister's collection of LPs.

My mother enjoys straight-ahead Jazz and Be Bop, as well as show tunes. I must have heard My Fair Lady 20,000 times. Jesus Christ Superstar also. Musical Theater is where some of the best and most creative music is being made.

Mom took me to my first Jazz shows and to plays in London's West End and I got completely hooked on Jazz, particularly hard-bop and fusion.

After high school I attended Berklee College of Music and focused on Guitar, Arranging and Composition.

Later, while living in Los Angeles I began writing and performing my own intensely melodic pop and alternative songs at clubs all over town. I also scored several indie films and documentaries. In the 90s, KCRW FM was the first to add and play my music in eclectic rotation.

Then I took a big detour working a couple decades in the wine business which is also a love and family passion. Though I am no longer a Wine Producer, I still consult in the wine world while working as a Music Producer.

I’m always listening to what’s new and how artists and producers are crafting their sound and authenticity.

I write drafts of most of my music in my head or on guitar first, and then work it all out by recording rough tracks & beats in Logic and then gradually addiing, subtracting layers to find sounds and feelings that work.

All musicians are much more diverse than their recordings tell you. As musicians our influences help inspire who we are, but in the end, our own authentic voice is unique and may not sound anything like the music and artists we love most.
