Originally aired on May 23, 2013.....J asked me to rock a live set with him at the Dublab Radio Show for their "Proton Drive" Fundraiser.  Following the Funky President's cue, we basically just played anything & everything that we wanted to....The Dynamic Duo was in full effect this day.  Even though this was released already, I thought it would be cool to put it up on my Soundcloud page.  This is what the nice people at Dublab had to say:

Found this little gem on pipomixes a few years back, no trace of it on Soundcloud, so I thought why not spread it around. This needs to be heard. The supremely talented DJ Shortkut of the Invisbl Skratch Piklz lays down an amazing mix of original tracks reconfigured into the hip-hop tracks that sampled them. 

It's only just occurred to me that subliminal inspiration for the jungle reconstruction/tribute aspect of my Eclectic Sample mixes came in part from this guy. Thanks, Shortkut.

Well it's my birthday today, so I'm going to celebrate with this excellent mix from Beat Junkie and break-digger supreme J.Rocc. I am constantly thinking of different themes to build a mix around. With the completion of each mix I typically fall into a 2-3 week funk where I try to think of a new theme for my next mix. Following the Folger's Blends mix I was struggling to think of a new theme. Then, one day while doing a random google search I stumbled onto the above logo. At first glance, I thought the logo was straight dope. However, the logo became even cooler when I learned that it was the creation of my favorite t-shirt designer, Derek from Manifest Worldwide. Given that the saying behind the logo comes from a ATCQ song, I was originally intending to do a Tribe mix. However, since Tribe mixes are a dime a dozen I went in the direction of creating a mix that attempts to capture the jazzy vibe that groups like Tribe and Digable Planets spawned. As the title suggests, all songs on this mix incorporate jazz based samples. The track selection includes music from jazzy groups and producers such as A Tribe Called Quest, Digable Planets, Diamond D, Black Moon, De La Soul, Madlib, No ID, Gang Starr, Showbiz & AG, Big L, The Roots, and Nas (I think that's all of them?). Half the fun of making this mix was doing the research to ensure that all songs maintained a jazz break. Some were no brainers, but other songs with jazz breaks were quite surprising. Jazz based samples have always given a special vibe to hip hop music so I hope this mix captures that magic. Thanks again to Derek at Manifest for inspiring the mix's theme.

Within the last few years, Ruck P and Wiz, two young and upcoming Djs from Biel-Bienne have been collecting a lot of experience on the turntables. Individually and as a group, they’ve gained a reputation as rock solid Hip Hop djs throughout their country of origin. They’re able to entertain all audiences from straight backpackers to a mainstream crowd.

With their first album they’re finally proving their skills not only on the turntables, but also on the MPC. The 14 self produced tracks feature international renowned artists as Masta Ace or Termanology and Prop Dylan from Sweden but also some of Switzerland’s finest as Nefew’s Polemikk, Manillio or Greis. With lots of love for fine details, the two producers got to create their unique sound over a period of several years. Inspired by the classic east coast esthetic, they’ve chopped unknown sample sources to rearrange those bits and pieces into something completely new. This led to a solid album which unites traditional influences and modern techniques.
