Cold Busted has navigated the smooth seas to unearth Sailing, the new album from Moroccan guitarist and beat-flinger saib. With acclaimed releases for Cult Classic Records and Japan’s Introducing! label as well as his 2016 long-player Around The World for Cold Busted, the Casablanca-based producer has steered his sound into warmer waters. Mixing tempered hip hop beats with jazzy vibes and a lounge sensibility, saib. touches on a style that’s both chill and opulent. The album’s opener, “Archipelago,” sets the scene with gentle piano, swirling strings, and beachside sounds that would make Martin Denny proud. “Tropics” pushes the agenda further, featuring delightful vibraphone lines, stand-up bass, and boom bap beats, providing the perfect soundtrack for poolside cocktails. It was during a Soulection music session on a vibrant evening that one of our A&R's played us some unreleased music from J-Louis. The vibe and timing was just right. In fact, the first listening experience was some of the most refreshing and smoothest soulful-bass infused sounds that we heard in years. It was right then and there that we realized that the 19 year old J-Louis needed to join the Soulection team.

J. Louis, ready to release his Soulection EP “Balanced”, definitely gives off future and forward-thinking vibes through out the entire beat journey. The vibe starts off with a dream like quality; something you’d definitely listen to on those after-hour late night drives with the windows down. All tracks are infused with soft female vocal samples ranging from Nikko Gray, Alicia Keys, Mara Hruby, Ruby Wood (Submotion Orchestra), and R&B queen, Aaliyah. J-Louis throws in a Spanish gem by giving us his twist on Elvis Crespo's “Suavemente”. J. Louis is definitely not a stranger to intricate drum usage and this is very prominent in Balanced.

"I wanted to capture the listener's emotions and get others inspired by the sounds & samples I chose. I love creating that feel good music. Most of the tracks have female voices because I feel that only a woman can inspire a true work of art.. Thanks to Soulection I'm able to do what I love and will continue to do so in the future."

(Brandon Ruffin), known as Ruff Draft, in the post ambient, tech industrial era of music is an imposing, experimental producer from San Francisco, California. Musical blood ties to artist David Ruffin of the (Temptations) may explain the sometimes soulful play between harmony and discord in the collage like dissonance that is Ruffin’s music.

Ruff Draft, with a firm foundation in Nu-Jazz, Soul, and Hip-Hop, has released several projects which set you onto a Plutonian adventure of melodic chimes and space traffic, Draft bends ambiance music into Jazzy improvisation like sweet and sour, hard candy in tracks that follow lines that resemble hump-back arches.

A strong representative of the Oakland Electronic/Experimental scene, Ruff Draft is a resident musician at  San Francisco's (RESONATE) and Founder of the rising (ROOTNOTE COLLECTIVE)and member of the (ALPHA PUP RECORDS) roster. Ruff Draft shares collective input and his a member of the following collectives (Potholes Music, Modern Filth, 10Thirty Records, and ELLT). Ruff Draft has gained the ears and respect by those who nod there heads to the journey of his space jazz vibes--RuffDraft keeps it no secret that his sound is highly influenced by the instrumental magician of sound Flying Lotus. But make no mistakes about Ruff-Draft's sound, though production influences such as Flying Lotus, J-Dilla, and MF Doom, can be heard in RuffDraft's melodies, his compositions live in a space all of their own.

"Im so highly influenced by FlyLo, Dilla, Doom, Pete Rock, and so many other great producers that one of the more difficult things at times is really pulling back--getting space from the track, and making sure that the songs I write have a true identity of their own--I just make music that I would listen to."
