Originally commissioned as incidental cues for a short film by Helsinki based designer Paola Suhonen, Intiaani Kesä (Indian Summer) by multi-instrumentalist Jane Weaver has since grown into a fully formed project lending itself to a number of further cinematic productions and creative applications . Appearing alongside Demdike Stare and Brigitte Fontaine in the vampire film Kiss Of The Damned by Xan (daughter of John) Cassevetes and recut and performed as an alternative rescore to Eiichi Yamamoto's Belladonna Of Sadness for various live performances, this set of well-crafted themes takes it's brazen influences of Nicolai, Dell'Orso, Alessandroni and Daniella Casa back to their purest analog recording origins with startling effect. Recorded in an old vicarage near the Peak District, housing a unique analogue experimental studio, Intiaani Kesä hears Weaver deploy a wide range of instruments including tubular bells, bowed guitars, vintage Goblinised Roland string synths, detuned pianos, church bells, Roland guitar synths, harpsichords and ex-Radiophonic Workshop custom equipment as accompaniment to wordless and onomatopoeic chorale vocals recorded on valve microphones with space echo, sonic room reverbs and bespoke experimental tape delays. Made in a disciplined and unforgiving environment without modern technological shortcuts these self-initiated creative research prototypes were not initially intended for commercial release but are thankfully gathered here as songs in there own right independent of context.

Jazz trio meets classic rock. Upright bass and drums lays down a swingy and groovy foundation under a guitar inspired by rock heroes like Brian May, David Gilmour, Kirk Hammett, Jeff Beck, Slash, etc. The album has been spoken of as "John Abercrombie and John Scofield mixed with 80's rock- and- 60's surf guitar.

"Although it’s not a “go-to” genre for me, I do love jazz. I especially love when artists modernize the genre in some unique way. Jazz heads that balk at this idea can stick it up their you-know-what's in their stale jazz rooms that pine for the days when people gave a shit. Thing is, people do still give a shit if you bring a new idea to the iconic genre like Gus Moberg has done on his debut album as The Gus Moberg Travesty. He brought in a heavy-hitting rhythm section of Jonathan McCaslin and Jeff Gammon to allow himself to explore rock n roll guitar through a jazz lens. The result is a refreshing reimagining for the 21st century."

The Long Walk Home

Sparse and contemplative instrumental track featuring acoustic guitar and brooding atmospheric textures. Designed for modern cinematic westerns, this Americana, Folk, and Country-influenced composition evokes introspection and desolation. Ideal for drama, documentary, and narrative content focusing on rural life, the outdoors, historical settings, or the rugged American landscape. The 'No Ac Guitar' version omits the acoustic guitar and takes on a more foreboding, dark ambient feel. (Stem files available.)

While Causa Sui have always had one foot in heavy psychedelic rock, they've had the other one deep in a wide variety of esoteric styles. On this new double LP set, that other dimension of the band is being explored full-scale. ”Szabodelico” paints with a colourful palette, both compositionally and sonically - digging deep into an assortment of cultures, eras and sounds with a true crate-digger mindset.

Throughout their 15 year life-span Causa Sui has always been about seeking out new directions, exploring the past and the present in a way that's unique at each step of their subtle progression - forging new paths into an existing map. ”Szabodelico” feels like discovering a small room under the stairs of your own house: familiar, yet new and exciting. Their latest vision is an elegantly zoned-out version of itself: a turn inward. Anti-bombastic, yet rich with ecstatic harmonics and dynamics. The band stringed together a long series of sessions in 2019 and early 2020 in their studio in Odense, often prioritizing playful first takes and good vibes rather than clinical perfection.

Sparsely dubbed and mixed with a natural, full bodied flavour by Jonas Munk during the summer of 2020, each track has its own aesthetic. There's no simple equation to sum up the 13 individual parts of the album, but as a whole it creates an entity that's as complete as each of its parts. From the windblown opener ”Echoes of Light”, to the closing slow-motion epic ”Merging Waters” you'll find yourself asking where did the time go? The answer of course is: Szabodelico.
