It's Dima's 'RUNE' birthday today, and the best gift we can give you is the new Outcast from our dear music friend — EVL TOM @evl_tom Over several years of knowing him personally, Tom has proven himself to be a deep and versatile person, especially when it comes to music. We sincerely admire his deep approach and understanding of styles and are happy to share this two-hour mix with all of you!

To confirm these words, here is a first-hand quote from Tom:

"Hello, friends! I was super happy to be asked to do this mix, as the Ukrainian scene and its people are very dear to my heart. Dima asked me for a mix to represent my take on the breakbeat sound as we enter into this new year. I've always felt that breaks can be a versatile and wide-reaching genre, and I’ve tried to explore some of that in this mix.

There are organic, percussive tracks, florida acid, electro and techno ingredients, some reggae, grime, and hip-hop elements, deep rollers, melancholic, melodic bangers, shroomy mind expanders, and plenty of rib cage rattling bass. Just the breakbeat that I love, basically. A few old ones in there but plenty of the new including my new single “Eternal Lids” which is the third single off my upcoming album, “Absolute Melt” which drops on March 1st on OUT YER BOX @out-yer-box. EDGE — a party series that never happened due to the war in Ukraine.

Inspired by the success of bringing Carl Finlow at the end of 2021, our team developed the brand identity for a new events series in Kyiv. Everything was ready to start — Umwelt booking, the lineup formed, flights paid for, announcements and ads set up.

But all that remains since then are memories of unfulfilled dreams and desires. And now — a tribute mix from Sparkless featuring the exact tracklist he prepared for EDGE.

We are happy to share these memories with you and release the mix with the EDGE design concept as it was and is. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the creation of this mix, namely:

Some events unfold so naturally that they feel as if they were painted by life itself. That’s exactly what happened a month ago at PUREBASSLINE event in Granada, where we first met DJ Pepo (@pepodnb). His closing set on the garden stage was an absolute highlight of the night — powerful, flawlessly structured, and performed with precision. Afterward, Pepo revealed that this was his first-ever (!) breakbeat set — and it left an unforgettable impression!

A well-known name in the Spanish Drum & Bass scene, Pepo (@pepodnb) has been shaping his sound since moving to London in 2017. Born under the shade of the sails of Scampia, difficult neighborhood at the periphery of Naples. Born in 1980, she embarked on a career in the music world working very hard, starting as a waitress in many clubs and then as a dancer for several years. 
When she was a teenager she moved to Northern Italy for the high school, started a route into the world of fashion industry studying to become a fashion designer, but soon she understands that his path was in a completely different direction, enthusiasm for the night life in the local gave her the right reason to start a journey that now counts a lot of people who appreciate her, first of all for her talent. 
Came back soon to live in her hometown, Naples, who led Deborah to work on her knowledge into new music genres and trends, giving shape to a charisma that immediately has worked hard with productions signed by her as Sola_mente Records label founded in March 2013. On this version of our series we welcome Ochu Laross, who assembled a dark set loaded with mysterious and obscure sounds.

Ochu was born July 7, 1991 in the former Yugoslavia. In a very early age he was getting more and more interested in electronic music. The first mixes are from the year 2003. His parents wanted him to be a musician, as his father is a musician and a music teacher. He went to music school, and played drums, but in 2007 gave it up, and decided to be a DJ. He played music at smaller parties, and his friends liked his music. One year later he got the chance to play at some music festivals. In 2009 everything changed. 

Ochu LaRoss got the opportunity to play at the biggest music festival of Vojvodina as a beginner DJ at the Underground Arena. He got a lot of attention after that and started having more gigs. After one month he joined the Highlight Radio, where ever since then his mixes are being played weekly. That year he was also heard on Globalparty Radio, Budapest and some other internet radios. Sometimes on private parties he would play up to 8-10 hours. In 2010 the live shows continued, and he starts to make his own tracks. He joined the Strong and Deep organization, which organizes parties like the Summer Pulse Festival. By their help, he got to play at the biggest East European music festival, the Exit. Ochu Laross likes the weird, dark music, and the after parties.
