Hello everyone, and welcome onboard the PFG Progcast, your weekly 1st Class trip around the world of Progressive Beats....

...and BREAKS! Today our journey goes transatlantic as we head into the US, and a Florida based DJ whose focus is all about those broken drums! Continually forging ahead with his unique sound, and with 25 years experience in the game, PFG Give it up.... for Joe Wink! 

As a child his father owned the counties only Vinyl & Cassette store, therefore Joe grew up immersed in music. He was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time, and that place was Orlando, FL 1992.

His experiences during this time with electronic music and the nightclubs lead way to over 25 years of dedication to the genre of breaks and in particular 'Progressive Breaks'. Inspired by Hybrid, Lostep, Way Out West and Sasha early on helped sculpt his musical taste to involve deep, intelligent and often emotional tunes. 

For the last 7 years his show 'Broken Essence'  has been syndicated internationally on several major stations, and recruits guest mixes from the leading producers and DJs in the genre.  He is a resident DJ on Subcode, the station that airs Broken Essence,  as well as running the 'Progressive Breaks' group on Facebook as a resource to find, share and discuss the genre's best music. Heavily influenced by the deeper sounds of the underground bass music scene, DADs’ production thrives on manipulated and saturated emotive synths, grooving percussion, and robotic vocal chops to capture a poignant sound. Worth mentioning that they have already supported the likes of Overmono, Ben UFO, Jane Fitz, Objekt, Giant Swan, Batu and Kessler.

It's Dima's 'RUNE' birthday today, and the best gift we can give you is the new Outcast from our dear music friend — EVL TOM @evl_tom Over several years of knowing him personally, Tom has proven himself to be a deep and versatile person, especially when it comes to music. We sincerely admire his deep approach and understanding of styles and are happy to share this two-hour mix with all of you!

"Hello, friends! I was super happy to be asked to do this mix, as the Ukrainian scene and its people are very dear to my heart. Dima asked me for a mix to represent my take on the breakbeat sound as we enter into this new year. I've always felt that breaks can be a versatile and wide-reaching genre, and I’ve tried to explore some of that in this mix.

There are organic, percussive tracks, florida acid, electro and techno ingredients, some reggae, grime, and hip-hop elements, deep rollers, melancholic, melodic bangers, shroomy mind expanders, and plenty of rib cage rattling bass. Just the breakbeat that I love, basically. A few old ones in there but plenty of the new including my new single “Eternal Lids” which is the third single off my upcoming album, “Absolute Melt” which drops on March 1st on OUT YER BOX @out-yer-box. EDGE — a party series that never happened due to the war in Ukraine.

Inspired by the success of bringing Carl Finlow at the end of 2021, our team developed the brand identity for a new events series in Kyiv. Everything was ready to start — Umwelt booking, the lineup formed, flights paid for, announcements and ads set up.

But all that remains since then are memories of unfulfilled dreams and desires. And now — a tribute mix from Sparkless featuring the exact tracklist he prepared for EDGE.

Some events unfold so naturally that they feel as if they were painted by life itself. That’s exactly what happened a month ago at PUREBASSLINE event in Granada, where we first met DJ Pepo (@pepodnb). His closing set on the garden stage was an absolute highlight of the night — powerful, flawlessly structured, and performed with precision. Afterward, Pepo revealed that this was his first-ever (!) breakbeat set — and it left an unforgettable impression!

A well-known name in the Spanish Drum & Bass scene, Pepo (@pepodnb) has been shaping his sound since moving to London in 2017. The album of remixes on the tracks of our leading resident — Mechanical Pressure — consists of twelve remixes made by artists from England, Germany, Spain, USA, Hungary, Latvia, Belarus, and Ukraine.
