Alex Bleeker of Real Estate, on how The Nerves cover came into being: "I'm drawn to the Nerves' intricate guitar work. We're interested in creating similar guitar parts for Real Estate, but the Nerves have a more aggressive sound so I thought it would be fun to wear that "musical costume" for a while. Blondie already did a pretty good job with "Hanging on the Telephone" so "Paper Dolls" seemed like the next logical choice."

Sonzeira x Gilles Peterson Essential Mix

One of Perc’s all-time favourite tracks returns on Perc Trax Ltd, an imprint purposely created for reissues and collaborative projects. Originally released in 1993 as part of Thomas Heckmann’s ‘Drax Three’ EP on his own Trope Recordings label, it featured on Carl Cox’s seminal F.A.C.T. mix CD and alongside ‘Amphetamine’ has become one of the biggest tracks of Heckmann’s career. This 12" features three new remixes, all of which twist 'Phosphene' into something new whilst keeping the forward facing attitude of the original in place.

Opening up proceedings are Perc & Truss, hot on the heels of their recent sets at Awakenings and their second EP ‘Two Hundred’. Built upon one of their trademark kick and bass assaults the mix has been a highlight of their sets for months. On the B-side AnD deliver something very different to their previous releases, fusing punk drums with overdriven monosynths, making their forthcoming debut album even more of a mouth-watering prospect. Closing the record is The Exaltics who brings a slice of true analogue electro to Perc Trax with a remix which is one of the highlights of Perc’s forthcoming mix CD.

Short info: Running Back’s 50th anniversary comes courtesy of Redshape. After his utilitarian Bonuz Beatz effort earlier this year, the masked man is back on the monolithic techno tip. Graced with a sense of tradition and a modern stlye of execution, “Leaves” is the sort of warehouse rave signal that exceeds the sole purpose of a tool. Speaking of which, it comes in two different mixes to choose from accompanied by two unclothed versions for the creative DJ mind.
