The wistful 16-bit funk of ‘Boat Party’ leads you through the first level, its melodic chops and jubilant mood advancing you to stage two with ease. ‘Techno Cave’ guides the shoot-em-up activities in the cave, with its bold, brassy bass, sparse synths and rapid tempo. Find the ‘Easter Egg’ that is the Sharif Laffrey ‘Nightwork Remix’ and you’ll be in for a real delight, as the Detroit mainstay ramps it up over ten tantalising minutes with a truly exceptional version.

Make it to the ‘Abandoned Pyramid’ and you’re clearly a professional. Ruf Dug leads you on a tropical excursion through this mystical land, with deft piano play and meditative pads. What lies ahead on the fourth level, we will have to wait and see......

Ruf Dug - Boat Party (Club Version) (Futureboogie)

Remix extravaganza ahead! What started as an attempt to transport Feater’s brillant outsider pop „Time Millionaire“ (taken from the Socialo Blanco album) onto a dance floor with one or two remixes, ended up as a feast served on three different platters with some heavy hitters. First up, Pépé Bradock and Ricardo Villalobos are crossing their beams. Spread over two 12“s, the masters of idiosyncrasies and splendid aural design, Bradock and Villalobos treat the voice of Vilja Larjosto with love and care and bring it into their respective universe during peak time: vocals, dubs, acapellas and bonus bits included. Expertly, tricky and inventive.
	Remix EP no. 3 merges different trajectories of UK dance music traditions (or Ireland for that matter). Man of the moment Krystal Klear takes the material down to love town: the sound of 1980s Island records meets NYC boogie and UK street soul sounds. Hessle Audio’s Pangaea follows the other path: uptempo bass fun with a driving dub and an instrumental pass. Last but not least, Feater & Sam Irl themselves deliver a blissed out dub of the original. Oh, and if you have enough time, flip over to the 10“ with an Aba Shanti-I approved UK reggae and lovers rock take on it by Blood Shanti.

The letters on the board did not make sense. They were etched in chalk with a dusty finish and a gritty sense of disparity. Ylsm was never supposed to have been as complicated as this yet here they were. It was the name appointed to the project at the start of a sequence of experiments and new life. Deep underground they had worked tirelessly to test the theory, trying to disprove the very notion that man might be able to dance amidst the moonlit sky amongst flickering stars and other worlds. It was not to be, at least not for now anyway. 

Lxury is set to self release a new EP on Extra Free, his own imprint and record label which acts as a new outlet for his own ingenuity and creativity. A rave inspired, electronic monster the EP is as fun and juicy as ever.

Synth commander Com Truise readies his latest mini full-length, 'Persuasion System' to drop on May 17 via Ghostly International.

Ahead of the release, Com Truise has handed over the LP cut 'Ultrafiche of You' to Mixmag for a premiere. The contemplative, chrome-plated track uses soft synths and waving percussion to convey an overarching feeling of loss that is intertwined with a sense of acceptance. "It's a love song, and I don't write many of those," the artist explains.

Premiere: Com Truise 'Ultrafiche of You'

Five years after his track 'Mr. Croissant Taker' appeared on Soulwax's Grand Theft Auto V radio station, Belgian producer Transistorcake releases his official debut release, the 'Future Plans' EP on Eskimo Recordings. Featuring 4 tracks of hazy electronica that would sit neatly alongside early releases on Aphex Twin's Rephlex label or recent excursions by the likes of Palmbomen and Betonkust.
 
Opening tracks 'Future Plan I' and 'Future Plan II' sets out Transistorcake's stall nicely. Swirling synth melodies, an ever evolving bassline that leads you down a labyrinthine maze and diaphanous strings and pads all add up to create an ecstatic yet at the same time melancholic quality to the music that manages to sound both ancient and modern.
 
"Future plans I and II are constantly changing routes of ideas, improvisations and coincidences," explains Transistorcake, "nothing is a constant in the two numbers, outside the pulse of the drums. You can see them as two possible versions of the future or as an old version of the future alongside its current variation."
 
Whilst cut from the same cloth as the previous tracks 'Ribbles' has more than a touch of the Nordics to it. Sparkling, playful melodies glitter like snowflakes caught in the flash of a strobe light before a pulsing disco beat rockets the track into the stratosphere. In his own words the track is "an ode to spontaneity and dancing without braking. I pictured it being played by a live band next to a pool at an LA cocktail party in the '80s."
 
Closing the EP we have 'Kluts', driven by a stuttering, head-nodding, rhythm that recalls that rapping sound of a woodpecker in the forest, the track is gently swaddled in a warm embrace of synthetic stings that gradually develops and asserts its dominance over the course of nine, all-too brief as it happens, minutes. For all its gauzy textures there's also an undeniable solidity to these tracks, an underlying organic quality and nostalgic warmth that permeates them. 
 
Having previously studied jazz composition and played in several bands over the years, Transistorcake brings a sense of spontaneity to the often all-to-structured world of electronic music. This EP just capturing a snapshot in time of these songs that can be endlessly reworked and reimagined in his live set, where live bass and drums, are added to his collection of vintage synths to an endless back and forth between man and machine.
