In this project, emotionally unavailable problem child & composer Zion Cartä goes deeper into the romantic troubles foreshadowed in his previous EP, Zocial Construct, expanding on his confliction between finding both love & a sense of self identity. With the opening adlibs “lately you been had me fucked up” on ‘First World Problemz’ , & the depiction of a one sided relationship with drugs on ‘Stargirl’, He gives us a look into the most vulnerable parts of his mind & artistic journey. The title “2018” symbolizes the year when Z established a deep connection with both music & the certain individual(s) who contributed to the inspiration behind the project’s composition. In the short time frame the album took to write, Zion was led to display real & raw emotion into every minute detail of the production. From the innate vocal inflections feeding deeper into the concept of emotional vulnerability, to the reverberated snares symbolizing the lasting effects of repeated emotional damage, saturated & reversed guitar riffs played by Evan Briand representing the backward progression of a relationship, a vibrant & heartfelt vocals performed by Brozayy, the ambient & weightless feeling of the Alex Reid coproduced track 3… all give life to a bigger vision of emotional rollercoasters and a sense of unsureness.
