His fast mixing techniques and a taste for old school records from the 90’s with real groove and funk have given him a strong reputation within the techno community. This reputation and bond with the community continues to grow for Comrade Winston, with his monthly residency at Operator Radio where he invites both established and upcoming talents from home soil.

The mix he recorded this time will be the second round for him on our series. His previous contribution was a live recording at our first event, this time our dear Comrade recorded a set that is an eclectic mix of the old school, the new and talent from Amsterdam. Conor Krane’s four tracks feature skittering percussion, hazy vocals, and swirling melodies over filtered kicks. His explorations in modular synthesis have led him to a sound that is intense yet restrained. ARTM’s remix offers a groovy, bouncing counterpart to the four tracks and Concrete Husband’s lo-fi flare ends the EP with a heap of bass. This is Conor Krane’s first solo project on his label, White Owl Records.

512 - Mixed Live 'Carl Cox 2nd Session' - Area2 Detroit (2002)

Player Records were the undisputed kings of the bootleg/re-edit in the techno world. Rave, electro, ghetto, house, tribal, hip hop all got sampled and smashed over a beat. I was always a fan, nothing better than dropping a player record in a set when you need that track with a wee hook people will recognise, so when they recently put all their back catalogue up for a ridiculously cheap price I saw it as a good chance to get a few I was missing. Here's a mix of non-stop all killer, no filler Player tracks. Enjoy!
