Walk Of Atlas - MFA Thesis (Columbia College Chicago)

Chrysalism was written in the winter of 2017-2018 for the Los Angeles Percussion Quartet. The title means - the amniotic tranquility of being indoors during a thunderstorm. The piece builds upon a conflict between darker sonorities (thunder-tubes and bass drum), and brighter sonorities (metal pipes, bell plates, and crotales). The form of the work mirrors the passing of a thunderstorm, entering and then receding again into the distance. This recording is from the premiere performance, given by LAPQ.
