"Come away with me to a place devoid of time and space where we can dance in empty ballrooms,
To the music of our hearts, effortless melodies too beautiful to ever be written, hidden in plain sight, all you gotta do is listen; and believe. You see to the casual observer, all they'd hear is the shuffling of our feet, oblivious to the fact that we're in sync with every beat, that orchestras resonate within the cathedral walls of our souls with sounds that transcend even the most haunting minor chords, 
we hear tones where others feel no meaning, 
And we seem to understand each other without ever really speaking.
Surrounded by the distant footprints of others,
This old hardwood floor has seen its share of lovers 
Their memories damp with empty promises of forever, relationships severed by life's bad timing, but in this place, time stands still; while we keep moving. Finding pieces of each other in every movement, in every spin, in every breath, you breathe life into me again. Because you see in every swirl and in every twist, lies every heartbreak and every kiss, lies everyone you know and anyone you've ever missed, because after all what is life but a single song and an accompanying dance? And what is love but the person whom you share that with; your fate forever locked within the warmth of their hands."

LYRICS
"Baby, tell me something; how many times have you had your heart broken? How many times have you had your faith stolen?, by these guys that promise you everything, only to find that behind their clever lies and disguise they seem to have fooled you. Schooled you, into thinking that you finally found the one, your soulmate, you feel your fate has been decided, and then they leave..and you're alone again, wiping the tears off onto your sleeve. 

How many times have you been unable to sleep because the one man that you thought you'd keep forever isn't by your side. You try and close your eyes but all you see are memories, hidden deep within the crevices of your soul are stories unforetold, visions of growing old together, visions of your hands intertwined, walking barefoot through the sands of time for what you feel feels like forever.

You lie there and fantasize about the familiar smell of his cologne, only to find that it makes you feel more alone than ever. You start to cry but it doesn't help, the tears flow down and you wish that they would drown all the pain you feel, but you soon realize that tears just make the pain feel even more real.

Your friends tell you that you need to let go, and lord knows you've tried. But regret still occupies the space between your arms where he used to lie. It's strange how much pain a broken heart can make, the same emotions it gives, it can also take. Feelings of sickness that linger long into the night; too bad there's no medication for heartbreak.

Listen, you think you're alone but you're not, its not about what you want, its about what you've got. Reach deep into your soul and pull out that strength thats been hiding inside all this time, and soon you'll find that your state of mind will change for the better, you can ride out this tough weather; and when the rain has passed and the wind has amassed to just a gentle breeze, you'll find...that pain is like the tides of the ocean -it comes and it goes. Just take it slow, and soon your heart will grow back to what it once was, you'll pick up the pieces of all those broken dreams and although it might seem tough to pick yourself up from that hole you've fallen into...Never lose faith that someday you'll get what you deserve. Someday someone will love you so much that they'll give you the world. 
And maybe then, youll forget all those times you had your heart broken.

"How Many Times" - A Spoken Word Poem

"I died once, for about eleven seconds. Not a particularly long stretch of time, but nevertheless, it would change my life forever." This poem is inspired by the incredible new Netflix original show called "The OA"...I highly recommend it.

"I've seen the face of Death,
looked deep into its eyes.
Felt its icy touch, 
and caught a glimpse of the other side.

I noticed the warmth,
as it left my heart.
Heard the ground beneath me shake, 
as my world fell apart.

Opening my arms, 
I surrendered to my fate.
I knew my time was near, 
Death was never late.

And then all was calm
no panic, no strife.
Death gave me one last look, and then sighed,
before he pushed me back to life."

One thing you need to understand right off the bat: I am not a "naturally" talented writer. The beauty that you may find in these poems sometimes comes from places inside me that I hope you never have to find within yourselves. But if you do -or if you have-, perhaps you'll come across some consolation here. The poetry you find here -regardless of topic- is what has helped me to recover and get back on track with my life, and it has invariably shaped the man I am today...I hope it can help you as well. 

For those who may not know, I started the Ryehighproductions channel to share some of my work with only a few select friends and family who had requested that I post some of my poems online. Slowly, and without much intervention on my part, the channel grew quickly and attracted many people from all walks of life.
