Krystaliczny ditlenek krzemu to minerał występujący w naturze, znany również jako kryształ górski. Jest materiałem piezoelektrycznym, czyli takim, na którego powierzchni pojawiają się ładunki elektryczne pod wpływem naprężeń mechanicznych. Piezoelektryk przejawia również odwrotne zjawisko piezoelektryczne, polegające na zmianie wymiarów kryształu pod wpływem przyłożonego pola elektrycznego. Drgający kwarc staje się tym samym rezonatorem wytwarzającym sygnał o precyzyjnie ustalonej częstotliwości. Dzięki swoim właściwościom wykorzystywany jest w zegarkach kwarcowych, zapewniając ogromną dokładność pomiaru czasu. Powstające obecnie zegarki są w stanie osiągnąć margines odchylenia na poziomie +/- 10 sekund w skali roku.

The so-called “number stations” are shortwave radio broadcasts whose only purpose is to transmit encoded messages in the form of a series of numbers, words, and other patterns of audio signals. These transmissions, which have been reported for over a century and are still in use today, are believed to carry sensitive information to intelligence officers operating in foreign countries. With the use of cryptographic techniques such as one-time pads, agencies can securely transmit messages that are virtually undecipherable by anyone other than their intended recipient. As a result, for anyone else, the patterns in these signals carry no information and are completely indistinguishable from pure randomness.

okno, okno, okno is a four-part multichannel electroacoustic work that explores such broadcasts, some of which date back from the Cold War period, while others were intercepted during the time of its composition. Composed by processing these shortwave sources through an analogue synthesiser, this piece employs algorithmic looping techniques coupled with some improvisational elements. It thus offers a window into these mysterious signals that constantly surround us and uses repetition as a method for both exploring and deconstructing them.

Ten cytat z Waltera Jacksona Onga, filozofa i antropologa kultury, można by na potrzeby kompozycji odnieść do tkanki muzycznej z całą jej wewnętrzną organizacją i gramatyką. Akty (przy)wołania dźwiękowego zdarzenia będą mieć miejsce w utworze zarówno w obrębie jego samego, jak i tego, co moglibyśmy nazwać naszą muzyczną przeszłością – na takich samych zasadach, na jakich jesteśmy w stanie sięgać zarówno do indywidualnej, jak i zbiorowej pamięci.

Ryszard Lubieniecki – composer, musicologist, instrumentalist, and improviser from Poland. He studied composition (1st degree,  with prof. Bettina Skrzypczak) and accordion (1st and 2nd degree, with prof. Jerzy Kaszuba and dr Stanisław Miłek) at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. In 2023, Ryszard defended his PhD thesis at the Institute of Musicology at the University of Wrocław, where he currently studies late medieval music and works as a lecturer. His recent research focuses on the memory craft and its relationship to musical and theoretical sources from the XV century. Besides the accordion, he plays medieval keyboard instruments (portative organ, hammered clavisimbalum).

His music was performed at Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Netherlands), ECCO 2020 Concert in Brussels, Musica Privata IV in Łódź, Słuchalnia in Toruń, Musica Polonica Nova and Musica Electronica Nova in Wrocław and Canti Spazializzati (Wrocław). He was an artist-in-residence for Musica Privata VI in 2018 in Łódź. On January 2021 his first monographic CD „Kompozycje izorytmiczne” was released by Nasze Nagrania.

In 2014, he founded the contemporary music ensemble Layers with Zofia Ilnicka (flute) and Jakub Wosik (violin). With the trio, he performed pieces by Alannah Marie Halay, Josue W. Amador, and Piotr Bednarczyk, among others. In 2021 this material was published on the CD „Grundgestein” (self-released).

In 2016, Lubieniecki started his first solo project focused on the amplification of the accordion. New pieces were dedicated to him, including compositions by Dominik Karski, Alannah Marie Halay, Gilberto Agostinho, and Mateusz Śmigasiewicz. In 2019, he recorded the accordion pieces on his first solo CD, "Seeds", released by Nasze Nagrania. In January 2023, his second solo CD, „Musikformen der Natur”, with new pieces for portative organ was released by EMA Vinci.

In the area of medieval music, he attended courses with Corina Marti, Christophe Deslignes, Marcel Pérès, Crawford Young, and participated in the projects of the Foundation de Royaumont (Chanter l’Ars Nova français with Tiago Simas Freire and David Chappuis, Chanter l’Ars Nova italien with Patrizia Bovi, and l’Academie de musiques transculturelles with Jocelyn Mienniel and Ashraf Sharif Khan in 2021, and Camel Zekri and Okba Sudani in 2022). In 2019 with the singer Julieta Gonzalez-Springer, he founded the early music ensemble Vox Imaginaria.

As an improviser (free improvisation), he is active in the music scene of Wrocław, playing in ensembles Vogellicht (Izquierdo/Lubieniecki), Lubieniecki/Rupniewski, Disquiet, and Widzicie.
