Our rebel talent from Ohio, throws down a funky techno live performance James Johnson Jr AKA Plural is one exceptionally talented electronic music producer, composer and DJ known across the world for his hard techno sound. His calm demeanour belies the massive amounts of energy he creates in his highly technical DJ sets, and the ethereal beauty of his live performances with many top-flight DJs swearing by his output, dropping his tracks relentlessly throughout their sets. He grew up in the 80’s listening mostly to soul, RnB and hip-hop. He knew he wanted to follow a musical path, but because he couldn’t rap or sing and was more interested in the beats he decided to become a DJ. His early inspiration came from amazing artists like Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, Herby Handcock and Public Enemy. after becoming a DJ and discovering so many more styles of music out there, especially techno, it was Jeff Mills, Claude Young, DJ Stingray and The Horrorist to name a few that held his awe.

KMYLE, B4's great new signing, delivers a mental and robust session, a wonderful mix made of techno music in its purest expression.

Listening to Kmyle's mix is like entering another dimension, in which techno reigns orbited by an infinity of enigmatic textures, industrial sounds and cosmic layers that pass through our body like shooting stars. 

Hyperactive and prolific, Kmyle is a relentless producer and a seasoned engineer with machines. Equally at ease in the studio and on stage, his euphoric analog live shows and DJ sets are the perfect synthesis of his pure and textured contemporary techno: a journey towards dazzling space-time blurring soundscapes that can venture into icy and melancholic depths as well as robust and perilous turbulences. 

Since his debut on Skryptöm, Kmyle has worked hard to carve his career in the techno scene. He’s released on many prestigious labels such as Clergy, Break New Soil and Astropolis Records, as well as collaborating with the cream of the crop including Laurent Garnier, Paul Ritch, Ilario Alicante and Drumcell.

In October he is set to release on his own label, Kmyle Records, a massive vinyl with 3 new tracks and an incredible remix by Drumcell. In November he’ll be launching a collaboration with Inigo Kennedy on Skryptom Records and later this year, he's publishing a remix for Extrawelt. 

It hasn’t taken long for him to become one of the most exciting producers in France, and on this new episode of the B4Podcast, you’re about to find out just what Kmyle’s made of.

It is a huge pleasure to have Electric Indigo play for our 31st edition of Aria Series. The Austrian DJ, composer and founder of the inclusivity initiative female: pressure is one the most influential European Techno artists acting as a true icon in our scene. Her inspiring career began in Vienna in 1989. Nowadays, having played in 45 countries across Europe, Asia and the Americas, she is internationally known for her multichannel experimental live sets and energetic mixes. Being a regular guest at Berghain, she recently performed at their re-opening night in October. In 2018, ARIA had the honour to host Electric Indigo at our 12-hours takeover at The Cause, London.

ARIA SERIES [031]- ELECTRIC INDIGO

Max Gardner is a constant presence in the San Francisco Bay Area scene and a stalwart of American techno, DJing clubs and warehouse parties, hosting his own events, producing his own hammerhead machine music, and performing all-hardware live sets in collaboration with Muon as Transpose. Max is co-founder and resident DJ of Direct to Earth since 2011, and he just launched ‘peer’, a new techno label aimed at pushing the sounds of US techno from the west coast. The first EP has already been gaining massive attention and is landing into the virtual crates of DJs worldwide. As a producer, Max Gardner’s originals and remixes have landed on labels such as Dusk n Haze, Northern Parallels, Truncate, Occultists, Resource and lots more. 

As a DJ, his sets run through the gamut of techno in its purest forms, inspired by the heavy, synth-forward sounds of Detroit and Berlin classics and new- school players from the Netherlands, Latin America, and the U.S. Midwest. He's played dozens of beloved clubs and festivals throughout the Americas and Europe. He's been busy for years, but Max is just getting started in 2022.
