Singer/Songwriter, Russ Rogers has been actively writing, performing and recording rock/pop/soul music for the last 20 years. His guitar driven neo-soul awash in melancholic hooks, sets a dark yet hopeful tone. Notable tenure as Singer/Bassist and songwriter  for The Numb Ones (Cleopatra Records) has given Russ national recognition for his song craft, a trait he has since refined in earnest. Regular solo performances offer the perfect isolated venue for Russ’ overflow of creative output.

I've been doing this stuff for a long time, and tend to write a lot, so it's quite good for my psyche to have soundcloud as a vehicle for my output. Basically all of the songs I upload here were, for better or worse, written, played/programmed, recorded, and mixed by me. Drums & synths are mostly programmed, instruments are all played, and vocals are just fun :)

Sadness Theory is self-composed, melodious singer/songwriter music wishing to affect you with its stories. A common theme in my music is environment, reusing the things we own but also the identity issues that emerge from living in a materialistic society.
Sadness Theory is since 2011 a soloproject, with Kattis singing and playing either the piano or the guitar. Sadness Theory has performed in various venues mainly around Uppsala in Sweden such as local festivals, theme nights and vintage-events. Made of things was the first single to be released followed by the full-lenght album “Praying to a Gucci God” in 2012.
I get inspired by the people around me, the world we live in, my everyday stories. Artists that have inspired me a lot in my music are Tori Amos, The Cure and Portishead. Other artists I enjoy and that awaken my creativity are Regina Spektor and Marina and the Diamonds.
