The GRAMMY-winning engineer for Tom Waits and Elvis Costello, Tchad Blake said: "Strange Part of the Country is an awesome album! I still listen to it."

Fleetwood Mac legend Peter Green liked Conil's music so much he stopped by Conil’s house to record with him. They recorded a version of Conil's homage to the jazz greats "Round Midnight". 

Strange Part of the Country never conformed to any current trends and has remained timeless. Now, people are discovering this album and it is becoming an all-time favourite. 

When the album was released in the UK, it received some amazing press. Britain's biggest selling music monthly Q magazine gave it: "Four stars - Q Recommends". Blues Matters magazine wrote: "One of the most original artists out there". In the next issue, Blues Matters put him on the front cover.

Conil left London after Strange Part of the Country was released and has spent the last ten years living in the United States and Europe - including New Orleans, New York City, and Berlin.

Tchad Blake, sonic architect for Tom Waits and Elvis Costello, agreed: “Strange Part of the Country is an amazing album. I still listen to it.”

Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green was also a fan, making a rare visit to Conil’s studio to record a mellow take on “Woke Up Around Midnight,” his smoky tribute to the jazz greats.

Conil’s distinct sound has drawn praise from Marc Ribot, Davey Graham, Pino Palladino, and John Leckie - artists and producers known for recognising the real thing when they hear it.

Upon release, Strange Part of the Country made quiet but lasting waves. Q Magazine gave it four stars and a Q Recommends stamp. Blues Matters Magazine put Conil on the cover, calling him “one of the most original artists out there.” In the U.S., “Years Between” climbed to number three on the Alternative Radio Chart.

Raised in England on the Rolling Stones, the Velvet Underground, and Tom Waits, Conil later lived in some of the world’s most musically charged cities - New Orleans, New York, Chicago, Austin and Berlin - chasing sound wherever he went.

That began early. He travelled far, met the Dalai Lama, climbed Kilimanjaro, and crossed the Himalayas - experiences that shaped his perspective and his music.

He is now finishing his long-awaited second album - recorded in New Orleans, Chicago, London and Greece - with Danny Thompson, Tchad Blake and more.

I have attended an audio school and worked several years at a concert hall named Olavshallen https://www.olavshallen.no/arrangere/store-sal I followed Khaliq Glover’s courses and webinars. I've been into sound engineering since 1991 and mixed over 1000's of songs. I have previously mixed for One Time Records and have released a vinyl with Koalra. I also have mixed "Where Do I Go" with Chris TR that was airtimed on the BBC radio

I use Universal Audio, fabfilter, soundtoys, autotune, melodyne, ozone and Plugin Alliance plugins and have a Uad apollo interface .

 I also use outboard gear like the RME Fireface, Universal Audio 2-1176 stereo compressor , An Avalon channelstrip, a space echo RE-201, a Drawmer 1968 mkii, and a Lexicon Pcm92. Also a dual ssl eq

Hello there I’m Nathan, aka: “Tonic Muse” : - ) Sky1Digital is what I like to call my studio production , (not currently a registered business)

So I truly adore the process of finding existing indie beats online and then writing my own lyrics to them! Follow to stay tuned for more demo collabs! Im currently operating with the bare minimum of an iOS DAW,  budget headphones, and an AudioPro condenser mic. And I like it—it works great for my SoundCloud demo sessions! I love my current setup.

Fun fact: i have actually been writing songs ever since I was 8 years old! I was a distinguished essay writer in high school English. Recently in December 2023, I discovered the world of indie mixing on YouTube and honestly I have not looked back. Writing, Recording, and Mixing music is a SUPER satisfying trifecta of an experience for me, that strongly empowers me as an indie artist. I really consider myself passionate because it’s like as soon as I finish a song, i’m already in the mood to make a new one using the same joy that seems to always carry over from the last project. It’s like one fully energized wave of confidence every time. There’s nothing quite like beholding something that you are truly proud of, even as a fan regarding other people’s work. I’m sure that when I eventually scale up my studio gear, and find my workflow, as well as expand my music pallet, this will only become even that much more enjoyable for me as a creative

I sing mostly—but occasionally, I do like to incorporate elements of Rap and RnB vocal style into my sound. And I think that it works really well!
