'Rue' is the result of the four of us getting together in a dingy studio,  decidedly rolling up our sleeves and reaching out for emo-like catharsis. We wanted to create something that fused the plucky call-to-rage of yesterday's punk with the tenderness of human doubt and uncertainty. This song is the blending of those two contradictions, our idea of a lyrical see-saw—it encapsulates the feeling of being weighed down by your insecurities, trying courageously to rise above them, and still worrying your best might not be enough. It's about fear and anxiety. It's also about hope. It's about regretting that that hope might be fragile. It's about persevering nonetheless. It's about fighting back with everything you have. It's about being unsure. And it's about regret again.
