Our inner space has been the only place left to us to wander lately. This mix is a kind of a soundtrack to this journey. It would not happen without my wife Marketa, who has been a constant source of inspiration and of a great many tracks, Georgi, who sorted out the sound, and Maja, who agreed to record the intro. In the first hour, apart from fresh tracks, we also played tracks that we missed over time. We'll definitely be checking out Indian producer Kohra, as his production is great and we've been following him for a while. 
In the second hour we played a mix by the great producer Adam BFD. He will be our guest at the Breakbeat Conference live edition at the Cross Club in Prague. We're really excited to see what selection Adam will come up with and we hope he'll enjoy the party and Prague too. This set is from earlier this summer for his home label Shall Not Fade. This show was tough. Martin didn't make it to the studio and the guest who was supposed to be on the second half of the show didn't either. Yes, the party at Cross Club was great and Adam BFD played a great set, but we're not getting any younger. Anyway, I managed to put together some nice fresh tracks. Listening to them in the studio saved me. I added a few records from my collection, which I instinctively grabbed on the shelf while still half asleep :)

On this Sunday's show, the temperatures outside stayed below zero and the studio was warmed by the melodies that the new tracks are full of. Once again we played the great Spanish producer Enzo Leep, who is coming to Prague in March for the live edition of the Breakbeat Conference. And our friends from Rune Recordings have two more great releases. But one track is really special, Future Funk Squad said goodbye to his own work under the alias FFS with the track The Same Program. It's a testament and a great example of what modern Nuskool breaks can sound like.
The first guest this year is the excellent Prague DJ and promoter Lucas Hulan. He's been playing since 1996 and his love of minimal can be heard in his breaks selection. In the studio he played a mix of his current favourite tracks and in the interview he revealed that we should also see his own productions this year. Have a nice listen!

The first hour features our mixed selection of currently released tracks from all corners of broken beats. London-based producer and DJ Otik is coming to Prague at the end of September for the Lunchmeat Festival. We play his music regularly here at Breakbeat Conference and have selected two of his tracks as an invitation. After a few months, the Back To Breaks vinyl session is back at Prague club Jilská 22. As it's regularly held on Thursdays, we thought it would be funny to do a Thursday Club Recordings (TCR) tribute vinyl mix live in the Radio 1 studio. We ended up enjoying it and look forward to hearing the tracks again on the big sound system.

I was preparing this mix sometime in 2020, but it just remained as a rough outline of the tracklist. And I've lost it, as well as the belief that it makes sense. This summer I opened a forgotten USB and the mix, or rather the skeleton of it, was there. Not that I think I've created anything special, but the tracks are still great. I thought it was nice to have the light shine on them again, in fact I felt like I owed it to them. And I didn't change anything, I just recorded it.

SAKU chasing ghosts (the lost mix)

Unlocked Beats. This mix is a memory of summer 2020, the time of a brief respite in between two lockdowns, when we could lose it on the dancefloor again. Small open air events and smiling people enjoying the music brought the community back together. And these are some of the tracks that I always had on me when I went to play there. I wish that we all - club owners, promoters, Djs, sound engineers, club-goers and every other part of the scene - can soon go back to what we love. In the meantime, stay safe.
