[25/04/2025] The Pursuit of Worldly Glitter, Pomp, and Rank Leads to Dishonour - By Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah, Aston, Birmingham, UK.


Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:

– “…It is not poverty that I fear for you, but that Allah will open up the riches of this world for you, and that will cause you to compete with one another… It will take you away from your religion or destroy you, just as it destroyed those before you.” (Ḥadīth)

– Clarification of the type of competing mentioned in the Ḥadīth.

– A further narration: “That which I fear after me is that Allāh will open up the riches of this world for you.”

– Most of the problems that arose after the Messenger ‎ﷺ were related to power, leadership, wealth, and greed.

– “Every nation has its trial, and the fitnah of my ummah is wealth.” (Ḥadīth)

– Blameworthy wealth is related to greed.

– Narration highlighting the way the Messenger ﷺ slept, showing the insignificance of the Dunya.

– “Live in this world as if you are a stranger or a traveller.” (Ḥadīth)

– Low Imān has resulted in the corruption of our goals and has had a major impact on our hearts.

– Examples of the blameworthy characteristics that occur when the importance of the Dunyā is raised.

– Statement of Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله explaining the consequences of the above.

– “And march forth in the way [seeking] forgiveness from your Lord, and [for] Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for Al-Muttaqūn.” (Surah Āl-‘Imrān 3:133)

Khutbah: Fear of Entering into Shirk

Part 1 | Studies on the Fundamentals of the Deen by Shaykh al-‘Uthaymeen (رحمه الله) - Abu ‘Ubaydillāh (حفظه الله)

The khuṭbah at Masjid al-Furqān (TROID) on 2022.07.15 that preceded the 2022 summer conference entitled: Singling Out the Truth Amidst a Sea of Falsehood. Shaykh Kāshiff Khān mentions numerous ayāt and ḥadīth about the blessing of following the Sunnah and clinging to it amidst a sea of misguidance. 

Narrated Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You will follow the ways of those nations who were before you, span by span and cubit by cubit (i.e., inch by inch) so much so that even if they entered a hole of a mastigure, you would follow them." We said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! (Do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?" He said, "Whom else?" Saḥiḥ al-Bukhārī 7320

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ـ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ ـ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ لَتَتْبَعُنَّ سَنَنَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ شِبْرًا شِبْرًا وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ، حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ تَبِعْتُمُوهُمْ ‏"‏‏.‏ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى قَالَ ‏"‏ فَمَنْ ‏"‏‏.‏

You Will Follow Those Who Came Before You

- Ḥadīth #11: Leaving Doubt.
- Brief biography of al-Ḥasan b. ‘Alī (رضى الله عنهما).
- The year of his birth and the birth of his brother al-Ḥusayn (رضى الله عنهما). 
- The name ‘Alī initially given to al-Ḥasan when he was born. 
- The permissibility of a grandparent referring to their grandchild as their son/daughter.
- The ‘aqīqah of al-Ḥasan.
- A heartwarming ḥadīth where Abū Bakr asserted that al-Ḥasan resembled the Prophet ﷺ and not his father ‘Alī. 
- Imām adh-Dhahabī (رحمه الله) on some of the noble characteristics of al-Ḥasan.
- Ibn Kathīr (رحمه الله) on al-Ḥasan’s many marriages, ‘Alī’s address to the people of Kūfah regarding this, and their response to him. 
- The children of al-Ḥasan. 
- A du’ā of the Messenger ﷺ for al-Ḥasan, which is an encouragement for us to love him. 
- Aḥādīth that highlight the great love the Messenger ﷺsall had for his grandchildren. 
- The endearing manner in which the Messenger ﷺ described al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn. 
- Proof for the tremendous virtue of Ahlul-Bayt.
- Looking to the Sunnah for answers and taking the Messenger ﷺ as an example in order to have barakah in our homes.

Text of the ḥadīth:

عن أبي مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَسَنِ بنِ عليِّ بنِ أبي طالِبٍ، سِبْطِ رسولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ورَيْحانَتِهِ رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهُما قالَ: حَفِظْتُ مِنْ رسولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "دَعْ مَا يَرِيبُكَ إِلَى مَا لاَ يَرِيبُكَ. رواهُ التِّرمذيُّ والنَّسائِيُّ، وقالَ التِّرمذيُّ: حديثٌ حسَنٌ صحيحٌ.

From Abū Muḥammad al-Ḥasan b. ‘Alī b. Abī Ṭālib, the grandson of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and his sweet fragrance  (رضى الله عنه) who said, “I memorised from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, ‘Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt.’” [Related by Tirmidhī and an-Nasāʾī]

1. Question regarding combining Maghrib and ‘Ishā in the masjid. 
2. What should one do if they believe they have found something that contains magic?
3. Is the mother’s du’ā accepted or is it just the father’s?
4. Can I call the adhān for Fajr in my house?
5. I have heard people say yā Ḥabībullāh to call upon Allāh. Is this correct?
6. We have a saying in the Kurdish language that is said out of love, which essentially means “I sacrifice myself for you.” Is this correct?
