[06/01/2023] How Will We Know If Our Deeds Will Be Accepted? - By Abu Khadeejah ‘Abdul Wahid حفظه الله. Khutbah at Masjid As-Salafi, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khutbah:

- The response of the Messenger ﷺ when ‘Ā’ishah (رضى الله عنها) asked him about the āyah, “And those who give that (their charity) which they give with their hearts full of fear, because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning).” [Sūrah al-Mu’minūn 23:60]
- ‘Abdullāh b. Abī Mulaykah (رحمه الله) on the Companions fearing hypocrisy for themselves. 
- Abū Dardā  (رضى الله عنه) on the khushū’ of nifāq (humility and awe of hypocrisy).
- Statements from Abū Dardā and ‘Alī (رضى الله عنهما) regarding the āyah, “Verily, Allāh accepts only from those who are Al-Muttaqun.” [Sūrah al-Mā’idah 5:27]
- Ibn ‘Aṭiyyah (رحمه الله) on the intent of taqwā.  
- Fuḍayl b. ‘Iyāḍ (رحمه الله) on the āyah, “Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed.” [Sūrah al-Mulk 67:2]
- The two conditions that must be met in order for an action to be accepted, with evidence. 
- Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) on the one whose deeds are accepted and the one whose deeds are not accepted.
- Proof from the Qur’ān and Sunnah that good deeds are accepted from the sinner if he fears Allāh in it.
- A warning against looking down upon or leaving small deeds of goodness, and considering any act of evil to be insignificant. 
- Reasons why the deeds of a person are not accepted.
- The importance of istighfār and du’ā in the acceptance of one’s deeds.
- A sign that a person’s good deed was accepted.

[10/02/2023] Earthquakes Are From The Warning Signs Of Allāh - Khutbah by Abu Khadeejah ‘Abdul Wahid حفظه الله. Masjid As-Salafi, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khutbah:

- The reason Allāh decrees signs such as earthquakes, floods and storms for mankind.
- Mujāhid (رحمه الله) on the meaning of the verse, “Say: ‘He has power to send torment on you from above or from under your feet…’” [Sūrah al-An’ām 6:65]
- Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azīz b. Bāz (رحمه الله) on the prevalence of earthquakes, what causes them and what is obligatory upon every Muslim and non-Muslim when they occur.
- The manner in which Allāh destroyed some of the previous nations. 
- The falsehood and haughtiness of those who claim they can control the climate and thus avert (what they refer to as) “natural disasters”.

- Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on the effect earthquakes should have upon the servants of Allāh.

- A call to be from those who open the doors to goodness and close the doors to evil. 
- A warning against causing corruption in the land.
- Proof that fulfilling the command of enjoining good, forbidding evil and rectifying affairs is protection from destruction.

- The great virtue of rectifying disputes that occur between Ahlus-Sunnah. 
- Shaykh Fawzān (حفظه الله) on the verse, “There is no good in most of their secret talks save (in) him who orders ṣadaqah, or ma'rūf, or conciliation between mankind, and he who does this, seeking the good Pleasure of Allāh, We shall give him a great reward.” [Sūrah an-Nisā 4:114]

- A warning against being from those who leave the people to differ when we have the ability to make peace, or being from those who incite fitnah between the believers.

- The foundation of our brotherhood.
- The outcome of Tasfiyah without Tarbiyah.

- The requirement of taqwā, ṣidq and ikhlāṣ.
- Protecting our relationship with Allāh and maintaining our honour.

1. If a person took out a student loan in the UK not knowing it was ḥarām and has repented and is trying to repay it, is it permissible to go to Ḥajj while having this debt to pay?

Taqwá: The Cornerstone of a Blessed Marriage - Ḥasan al-Ṣumālī

Ustadh Abdul Hakeem (hafidahullah)discusses the importance of guarding and safeguarding one's time.

Shaykh ibn Baz (rahimahullah) said, "Time is more valuable than gold itself."

This shows us the importance of time because it is a commodity which will aid us in our hereafter.

In safeguarding and utlising our time there are affairs which we must recognise and utilise in order to aid us in using our time well.

•	Worship of Allah - The Purpose of our Creation

Ibn Kathir (Rahimahullah):
Allah created his servants to worship Him alone without any partners, so whoever obeys Allah with this command then Allah will grant them the best of rewards and whoever disobeys Him Allah will punish him with the most severe of punishments.

Allah informs us that he is not in need of the servants, he created his servants, rather they are in need of him (subhanahu)in all of their affairs for indeed Allah is the one who created them and he is the one that gives them sustenance. End of speech

•	Good companionship

Spend your time with companionship that will aid you upon good.

The Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa salam)said,

"The person is upon the religion of his companion, so look to whom you take as your companion."

Have companionship which aids you in worshipping Allah, participating in that which brings you benefit, enjoins the good and forbids the evil, the time you spend with him is one of benefit, seeking beneficial knowledge and acting upon it, reminding one another of Allah, a companion who wants Jannah for you just as he wants for himself.

Anas ibn malik (radiaAllahu anhu) The Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa salam) said, "One of you does not truly believe until he loves for his brother that which he loves for himself."

•	Righteous Actions and Exertion upon them

Do not fill ones time with the actions which are haram and actions which Allah subhanahu disapproves of, it is important to recognise that the worldly life is the place of cultivation for the aakhirah, this is where the seeds are laid down, which we seek to harvest and benefit from in the hereafter. Therefore, if a person does not exert themselves upon good, what will he have to harvest in the aakhirah?

Umar ibn abdul Azeez said, "indeed the night and the day they work for you, they are in your service so work for them. Ie take advantage of them, take advanatgae of the actions of the night and the actions of the day."

Abu Hurayrah (radiAllahu anhu) said he and other from the companions would split their night into three, 1/3 for sleep, 1/3 for revision of hadeeth and 1/3 for the worship of Allah (night prayer, supplication etc).

Your life in this world is not eternal, so take benefit of it while you can.
