The Prodigal Son returns to the label from whence his debut record was released. Live Ones have known Lorca for some 6 years, and seen/heard his sound evolve since their last encounter, back in the heady days of 2010. A lot has changed since, but it seems Lorca’s knack for a melodic hook is impervious to erosion from the sands of times- The tunefully delicate “All My Love” is a testament to the fact.

As the EP title would suggest, this Premiere is one of four odes to the late great prince of soul, Eddie Kendricks. Textures of some of Eddie’s hottest hits are woven throughout every cut, each brushed with a different stroke of Lorca’s artistry. Like one of The Temptations, “All My Love” fits like a glove into one of their infamous purple suits, dripping with pizzazz and swag - finger snapping and swaying for a full four minutes of soulful joy.

PREMIERE: Lorca - All My Love [Live Ones]

Amsterdam based @MarcelVogel has risen to fame following releases on his seminal Lumberjacks in Hell imprint, which along with his own music, has featured tracks from the likes of Rahaan, Karizma and Soulphiction.

Marcel Vogel’s latest release on Lumberjacks in Hell is a split EP that features new original material featuring impressive vocals from @khalil-anthony and stunning remixes from Nebraska, BB Boogie and @Julien-Dyne.

With a strong Afro Jazz influence we have been lucky enough to premiere the Julien Dyne remix before its vinyl release on the 23rd of October.

Julien Dyne is a drummer, who’s solo output is best known via his releases on labels including BBE and Wonderful Noise. Popular with the likes of Gilles Peterson and Benji B, he first made a name for himself at the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy, and through that has performed alongside icons such as Theo Parrish.

Khalil Anthony provides the vocal lead. He is a poly-math, a multi-disciplinary artist working with varying mediums and media. His work investigates the relationships between spirit and space, the black body, sexuality, society and the urban experience. Weaving together these artistic intentions through writing, dance, movement, acting, painting, arts-admin, education, and song; his work speaks to a diverse audience and varying communities. 

Marcel Vogel’s “Dance The Blues Away” is a vocal lead tale, telling of heartbreak, love, then turning into lust and rejection, and Julien Dyne has put his stamp on things by adding a touch of chic. Smooth and raw, the vocal he uses also tightens the percussion with some expert sequencing. Adding some delicate synth textures he loses none of the originals charm whilst taking the track in a new direction.

This ridiculously soulful Summer-House EP is the first installment by Peter on Big Bait since 2015. We baked the essence of 3 years of studio work on 12" vinyl. Amongst two brilliant solo tracks, Peter brought in two coops with some excitingly interesting producers: 
"Arpeggio Funk" is the first co-production by the Columbian shooting star Felipe Gordon with Big Bait label boss Peter Clamat. The guys met up on soundcloud and immediately started working out some tunes together. 
"She hates Getting Photos" and "Tanzflächengebet" are solo productions by Mr. Clamat. Outstanding, colorful, perfect work as usual. Last but not least track no. four is the uplifting, 90's flavored remix of an unpublished Clamat-gem by Ugly Drums and Chesney. The two guys are old-stagers of the German House Culture and well known for their releases on Kalakutta Soul, AVA, Quintessentials etc.

There was little movement in the vast empty warehouse - the machinery rumbled and groaned all by itself. Man was no longer welcome here and the sound of the metallic framework echoed and banged in the vast hall. It was just noise but it mattered little for he was already deaf, the sound of the mechanics had left his ears in no fit state for the banging of drums and the clanging of heavy tools. As he left for the evening he turned out the lights in the great space... He shut the door. 

Mayhm is set to release a new two track EP, a sun kissed affair on Sundries with a touch of class. Igor Gonya founded the label in February of 2016 and it has since moved from strength to strength.

Lyon-local Saint Paul is the first guest to contribute an entire solo EP to the catalogue with ‘A Jazz Delirium’, further confirming his craftsmanship after notable recent releases on Better Listen Records and his own Moonrise Hill Material. 

There’s a cosily prominent piano on the title track, slightly more decisive vibes on ‘Rap On Brotha’ and that wonderfully heart-warming keys and horn combo on soon-to-be crowd favourite ‘O.D. Of Love’. ‘Seashore Groove’ wraps things up with some seriously funky vibes for the hardworking man, concluding what might be one of the most precious packages of the second half of 2018. 

Saint Paul on Salin Records, a match made in heaven.
