Coming in direct from Hackney, we have the honor of hosting British duo @Kassiansound for our next Mixed By. They’ve put together an insanely groovy mix of soulful, jazzy house for us and it’s just what you need to soundtrack your next dance. The duo comprised of Warren Cummings and Joe Danvers have been putting out belters on labels such as Phonica White, Shall Not Fade and Heist Recordings since 2019. Kassian’s career got off to a flying start, with the title track from their debut EP ‘The Premise’ garnering a track of the year nomination by Gilles Peterson. They’ve since put out several stellar EP’s with this years ‘Crush’ on Shall Not Fade being the most recent.

Kassian have been very busy in the studio, they’ve also done a thumping remix of Nebraska’s ‘Dip and Flip’ on the latest edition of @Heistrecordings ’s notorious Round Up series. ‘The Round Up Part VII’ (released on March 12th) is packed with slamming remixes from a huge cast of big house names.  We're glad to have them today for our new MIXED BY series.

I think it would be fair to say that some people whose out put is quite regular suffer from quantity over quality. For Malik Kassim, the Amsterdam based producer also known as Retromigration, this just is not the case. With three records out already this year and plenty more on the horizon including a full LP on Wolf Recordings, it seems Kassim is determined to debunk the quantity over quality theory and prove you can very much be both. His records do the speaking for this argument, with his styles ranging similar to modern greats like Folamour and Kerri Chandler massively influencing off funky and up beat rhythms yet still maintaining that punchy four to the floor techy beat and its in these influences we move on the Phonica Mix 96; Retromigration takes us on a trip through many styles here across jazzy beats, funky rhythms, pumping house and melodic piano riffs, its very much a day in the Sun kinda party mix and he definitely helps us imagine that setting here.

GLBDOM PODCAST041  with M.ono @m-ono

 M.ono is a DJ and producer based in Leipzig, Germany.
He is one of the founders of Rose Records which was formed in 2011.

As a youngster M.ono was inspired by the House, Drum & Bass and Hip Hop sounds of the late 90s and early 2000s. His deep love and appreciation for music across all genres and eras are an inspiration for his productions which can be seen as sunny, emotional house tracks often with big piano chords and funky swinging basslines.

Easydance – M.ono’s first Artist EP on Rose Records – was very well-received and supported by DJs like Move-D, Moomin, Wolf Music and DJ Koze. The most successful track on this EP ‘Holding Back California’ was exclusively licensed for Move D ́s Fabric Mix CD.

In collaboration with his label partner Luvless he produced tracks for labels like Kolour Recordings, Dirt Crew Recordings, Ors, Ourselves, Traxx Underground, Tsuba and Rose Records under the synonym of ‘M.ono & Luvless’.

Outside of Rose Records, he has released music on labels like Heist Recordings, Razor N Tape, Dirt Crew, Suol, Night Grooves, Tenth Circle, 	Honey Butter Records,  Brown Eyed Boyz or Afin. Also he released a couple of remixes for Heist Recordings, Compost Records, Blaq Numbers, The Exquisite Pain or Rivulet.
