Often, when performing electronic music, we experience a completely different feeling than acoustic or traditional instrument musicians. The electronic medium is often deprived of a sense of being a “true instrument”. We may add hands-on control via an interface that could simulate and replace that sense of touch, but the connection with the actual sound generation is still a little thin.
For this piece, I chose to use a controller that could both be my interface with the computer and the acoustic source for those sounds and noises I wanted to process digitally, in an attempt to reunite the two actions into the one device.

Sal (Salvatore) La Rocca has released two albums under his own name, such as LATINEA (Jan 2003) and IT COULD BE THE END (Feb 2012). With : Lorenzo DI MAIO (guitar), Pascal MOHY (piano & Fender Rh.) and Hans van OOSTERHOUT (drums) featuring : Jacques SCHWARZ-BART (t. sax) on the IGLOO-RECORDS  label.

Lazy Lion

Sal La Rocca is originally from Seraing, Belgium, near LIEGE. He was first a Rock guitarist, but switched to the bass as his instrument of choice after hearing (for the first time) music by several jazz greats. After switching, he taught himself how to play by the age of 23. Over time, he become one of the most “in demand” double bassists in Belgium and in the European theater.
Starting in the mid 80’s, Sal has toured and performed with a wide array of musicians on the European continent like : Steve Houben, Jacques Pelzer, Michel Graillier, John Thomas, Toots Thielemans, Philip Catherine, Harold Land, Steve Grossman, Sal Nistico, Lee Konitz, Dani Kein featuring Vaya Con Dios (2006-14)…
