I still have yet to invest in a decent drum library, though I think this one is ok, except for the breaks, sounds very dry even with lots of reverb...

 Yeah I struggled with the drums, I kept adjusting the kick as I was a bit paranoid it would be too punchy and put people off ha. It would be good if I had a second pair of ears in my room at all times, maybe I'll put an add out for one. Me too!

Make A Man

“You Are Not Here” is the first single from The Third Sound's forthcoming third album, Gospels of Degeneration, and echoes the baggy haziness of both The Third Sound and Tess Parks' previous work. A ballad of love and yearning, it plunges the group’s blues-tinged psychedelia into the sombre shadows of modern life in Berlin, which the album explores as its central theme.

The resulting sound is somewhat cleaner and darker than previous albums but is littered with surprising sweetness in its poeticism, percussion and nostalgic glow. 

The duet entwines frontman Hakon Aðalsteinsson’s plangent voice, which sounds like it’s echoing through a dark and lonely night, with Parks’ sweet, smoky exhale that sounds as if it’s been raised on cigarettes and honey. The vocals are set atop lilting percussion and trickling guitar riffs, which are bound to become a standout feature of the new album as they continue to whisper through your mind for hours after listening.

The single is available from January 11th at fuzzclub.com and leading digital retailers. The album will is available from April 2016 on vinyl, CD, cassette, digital, and deluxe edition vinyl which is available exclusively through fuzzclub.com.

Introducing ‘Velvet Dreams EP’, the debut from psychedelic shoegazer trio Is Bliss, set for release this autumn on Club AC30. 

‘Velvet Dreams’ is a tantalising taster of this new band’s potential. It’s atmosphere resonates strongly with the hazy sixties underground, with its sitar-like waterfall guitars and hypnogogic beats, but other, harder influences bleed through. From the intense hit of fuzzed-up anger on ‘Truth’, through to yearning, soaring dream-pop gorgeousness of ‘Lure’ and lead track ‘Ocean Blue’, this release sets out to show Is Bliss’ full range and depth.

Comprising of Jimmy Stuart (vox, guitar), Dean Edwards (bass) and Sam Speakman (drums), Is Bliss have been together barely a year and yet have quickly gained attention opening for Wolf Alice, Telescopes, Nine Black Alps, Mark Gardener and Robin Guthrie. Many bands today cite My Bloody Valentine as a major influence, but Is Bliss exist because Dean clocked Jimmy’s MBV t-shirt and when they struck up a conversation they discovered a shared a love of Slowdive, Spacemen 3, Verve and The Cure, along with a need to escape the mind-numbing boredom of rural Hampshire. This first clutch of songs was developed through live improvisation, but is taken to the next level here by Pat Collier (The House Of Love, Primal Scream, Swervedriver).

Is Bliss are planning a UK tour in the autumn to promote the EP, followed by the release of their debut long-player in the new year.

A positive, uplifting, hopeful and all round motivational track. The piece begins with a simple piano theme which is soon accompanied with some claps and a glockenspiel, giving the intro a modern, organic sound, similar to many current adverts. The track then steadily builds into a huge chorus, carried with a rock drum beat, bass line, piano and spiccato strings, all heightening the uplifting mood. At 0:44 the solo piano theme returns as the drums drop out and allow for a calm and positive final few bars.

Ideal for: Business and corporate projects/ motivational presentations/ adverts/ anything which could be enhanced with overly positive music
