The last essential outing of 2017 for the Play It Say It label is from legendary DJ and producer Harry Romero.

Globally acclaimed and recognised star Harry Romero has been a driving force in the scene since the 90s. He’s released on such seminal labels as Sex Mania, Power Music and Strictly Rhythm, but also contemporary imprints like Ovum and Defected. Never far from the dance charts and an inductee into Pete Tong's Hall of Fame, Harry’s own Bambossa Records is another fine chapter in his definitive story. Here he shows off his current sound across three fresh tracks.

Opening up the EP is the arresting ‘Mother Earth,’ a percussive and tribal number with pinging kicks and loose hits all encouraging you to cut shapes. Bright synths rise up through the mix to bring some tension and drama and crowds are certain to react with hands in the air.

The masterfully mangled ‘Lesson on Swing’ is a vibrant brew of skewed synths and surging bass, vocal yelps and wonky chords that will freak out any floor. It’s another robust and full fat tune from the studio of Harry Romero.

Last of all is ‘Scatter’, a high-pressure tune with characteristically big drums and fat bass all overlaid with vocal effects that build the intensity. Hooky little synth motifs and metallic percussion all add to the steaminess and ensure this a huge anthem in the making.

This is a top trio of tunes that are imbued with all the knowledge and know how of a real house legend.

Every raver has their sunrise story. It usually takes place around 6 AM, after dancing all night, when the first rays of light usher in a new musical energy, something wild and magical. It’s the kind of moment people romanticize for years, even decades after. Such was the desired effect of Luzon’s 2002 classic Manila Sunrise. The tune contains a raw, tribal energy that few others can claim. Drawing influence from the Goa scene, it’s twirling pads and majestic vocal made it an instant progressive house staple that redefined the genre. We’re proud to bring back this insatiable classic for our fifteenth Yoshitoshi Classic remix pack, with contributions from three of today’s finest producers — label owner Sharam, Swiss studio ace Khainz, and New York techno legend Boris.

Sharam’s remix adds some modern flare to the original's progressive nature. He injects some dark, drum n’ bass-inspired sounds, a catchy new melody, and a beautiful, pad-and-vocal driven breakdown that transports listeners and club-goers to another dimension. Khainz makes his Yoshitoshi debut with a remix that boasts a myriad of stabs, effects, and other synth wizardry over a driving, tech house groove. His monstrous builds give away to exhilarating, unapologetic release. Finally, Boris transforms the track into a percussion-driven monstrosity that smacks of the classic New York 90's techno sound. The mix itself is built around banging drums and heavy bass, while the original’s delicate vocal contrasts the brutal nature of his remix, creating a powerful sonic dichotomy. As usual, we have included a remaster of the timeless original mix to complete this package. Enjoy.

Yoshitoshi Recordings boss Sharam kicks off his Washington DC house music outlet's 25-year anniversary celebrations with tasty new single that he has been teasing for months, 'Lobi'.

Sitting at the heart of this ardent dancefloor tune is a sample lifted from a unique tribal song sung by the Lobi tribe of Eastern Africa. Fine-tuned for peak moments during his sets, Sharam's latest track uses a spectral 303 riffs and gut-wrenching bass fills that are bound to give you chills.

'Yoshitoshi Celebrates 25 Years with Three Genre-Focused Compilations : House, Techno, Melodic House.

For the Melodic House edition of Yoshitoshi 25, we’ve focused on the tracks that were either too proggy for house or too melodic for techno. Many house historians would claim that this sound has been Yoshitoshi’s bread and butter throughout the years, and this final entry into the Yoshitoshi 25 compilation series demonstrates exactly why. As with the other two compilations, we’ve selected a handful of freshly remastered, stone-cold classics such as PQM’s “You Are Sleeping (Luke Chable Mix),” Valentino’s “Flying,” and Morel’s “True (The F****t Is You - Deep Dish Remix),” and mixed them up with the most memorable modern records from Yoshitoshi’s catalogue like OC & Verde’s “Indica,” Khainz’s “Collider,” and Red Axes’ remix of Dino Lenny’s “I Feel Stereo.” Of course the package wouldn’t be complete without some new remixes, so Sharam and Armonica have delivered some beautifully-crafted reworks of Yoshitoshi classics. Sharam takes on Luzon’s mega-classic “The Baguio Track,” turning the tune into a dark roller that has been the talk of his recent Burning Man sets. Armonica crafted an amazing remix of Anarcrusan’s “In My Mind” that winds gracefully between delicate, dreamy riffs and bouncy, bass-driven breakdowns. The final package is a perfect way to end the Yoshitoshi 25 series, giving both new listeners and longtime fans of the label an expansive view of the label’s legacy. New school house tastemakers Mason Collective make a big bang with their explosive Play It Say It label debut.

Mason Collective are a red hot outfit blowing up the house scene right now. The trio of DJs and producers hail from Manchester and next to their robust club tracks on labels like Whippin Records, Loco Dice’s Desolat and HotTrax, they also promote their own hugely popular - and always sold out - MVSON events.

Their no-nonsense style is here for all to see from the off; 'That's Gas' has a superbly programmed and tightly woven groove that is infectious and propulsive. Sci-fi sounds, filtered vocals and skewed synths peel off the urgent groove and demand you dance. The warm and rubbery 'Ready to Work' echoes Chicago great Gemini with its paranoid bass and vocals as well as high speed sense of house funk.

The wonky titular track shows another side to the collective: it's a freaky late night jam with daubs of melody, unhinged and wispy synths and a kinetic minimal house groove. This most expressive EP finishes with the slick tech and driving drums of 'Steezin', which has a flurry of 909s, taught bass and chopped up vocal sounds that will set any dance floor alight.

This is a fresh, high class take on house music from these contemporary stars.
