it is with deep respect and love for his legacy, contributions to the Chicago music community, and overall incomparable demeanor that we present to you a very special smart mix by our friend TIM BAKER and his musical partner, fellow Michigander ADAM STOLZ. Tim passed away on 4/4/21 at the age of 53. he is missed dearly.

Tim was truly one-of-a-kind, a soul who valued greatly the imparting of wisdom and connecting with everyone with whom he crossed paths. he collected a large entourage through his varied and ambitious pursuits, both sonically and through his penchant for fashion, as evidenced by his brand and label, Elephanthaus.

a key force in The Saturday Mess events hosted in various venues around Chicago, Adam has released music on Black Nation Records and Prosthetic Pressings. he is just as comfortable and skilled mixing funk & soul as he is house or techno. Adam's sound is rooted in jazz, funk, and a deepness that is portrayed quite well here––befitting for a memorial, it’s uplifting, inspiring the listener to move and groove, as Tim would’ve wanted.

though he has transcended his earthly form to greener pastures, Tim leaves behind a large catalog of productions, including many with Adam, including their Rico & Sonny project, which is yet-to-be-released. we look forward to sharing in Tim’s creations, a gift that will continue to give, just as he did.

Originating from a childhood surrounded by music in a bar owned by his parents, the DJ's passion was nurtured by the diverse sounds of hip-hop, house, and techno. His musical evolution, from a teenage breaker in Amsterdam’s vibrant hip-hop scene to a producer and DJ deeply influenced by the rich musical history of Detroit, Chicago, and New York, is a testament to his dedication to the craft.
