At that moment, I made a promise to myself that the next time I stepped foot on the bus, it would be to play.  Fast forward 5 years later…it’s 2am Monday night, about 30 min before my set, and I’m sitting in the deep playa with a close friend watching the bus make it’s way towards us from the city.  It was a moment that I will never forget.  This was what all the hard work was for.

To me, this mix represents a small microcosm of one of the things I learn over and over again every time I go to Burning Man; with patience, persistence, resilience, and positive intention, you can achieve anything.

Infinite gratitude to everyone who's supported me along this journey.  Although this, is just another beginning."

Providing a mix for DHA this week is Cubicolor, the act known for their collaborative efforts with London electronic power label Anjunadeep and curation of gentle, deep, bass-heavy atmospheric jungle vibes.

Making his breakthrough in 2014 with his 'Next Planet EP', Cubicolor has gone on to be supported by artists such as Pete Tong, B.Traits, Kolsch, Joris Voorn, Lee Burridge, Adriatique and George Fitzgerald.  Their 4th EP for Anjunadeep 'Down The Wall', was recently followed by a remix of the amazing 'X Machina' record from Howling for Monkeytown/Counter Records. Ahead of their debut album in 2016, Cubicolor arrive on Edu Imbernon's breakthrough label Fayer, with their single "Falling" and ‘Mirror Play’ releasing on Anjunadeep May 6th.

When I received my invite to play the bus last year the first thing I did was to tell it to my son NEO (7 years old) and speak about happiness and how people should follow their dreams staying true with what they like. I couldn't even think I would ever play one day at Robot Heart. And now .. this was about to happen.  

That night was truly special. It was the first night of Burning Man and you could feel the excitement of the Robot Heart crew and all the burners. We all were waiting for one year to arrive home.

That evening on my way to the camp i was passing through my friends camps super excited and inviting them to come with me joining the bus trip. So this was me with my gang jumping in and the bus leaving the camp with the music on full power mode.

Because it was the first night and there wasn't much traffic around, the bus was very active from one place to the other while the DJ's were playing with dozens of bikes and mutant cars and lights following it. Then it was my time to play and the bus stopped. I played for one hour and the feeling that I had it was like Robot Heart was dictating me what to play. It was like playing an instrument. Is a completely different sensation to any other gig and I loved it.

When i finished I wanted to keep the emotion with me and I decided to jump out by myself in the middle of the Playa, then I met one of the Robot Heart founders and I hugged him... many times... and showed my gratitude for doing this... and I walked. Walked alone on a magical night on deep Playa. This feelings will stay with me forever.

Thanks Robot Heart team and happy 10 years anniversary!

EELKE KLEIJN - melodic house set in The Lab LA

I feel like every year I say my closing set at DISTRIKT is the highlight of my year of touring (because well, it always is) and this year was no different! Always the best energy, the biggest smiles, the happiest dance floor on earth...only this year, I got to play that set twice! Since there was an issue with the original recording, I had the opportunity to play that set in its entirety (plus an extra two hours at the end) by recording it live on my Garage Party Sessions show on Saturday March 28, 2020. I hope those of you who tuned in the past weekend were able to get way from our current global situation for a few hours and get back to happier days on the playa, I know I sure did, so thank you for being there with me again.

The first 3 hours of this set are the same songs in the same order as my set at Burning Man 2019. I decided to leave the last 2 hours on there as a little bonus, just to help you get through these long days stuck at home. I also recorded a 45 minute downtempo intro, which will be featured on my personal Soundcloud page.
