Polygonia - Triple J Mix Up

"Plunyon" is a historic bridge built in 1982-1983 that originally served as a local irrigation system before evolving into a tourist attraction. Contrary to popular belief, it was built by the locals, not the Dutch. The name "Plunyon" is derived from the word Lunyu (meaning "slippery").

Drawing inspiration from this narrative, Sanjonas fuses the essential of Gqom, Gorge with local rhythms aesthetic—and vice versa—creating a dynamic interplay of global and regional sounds.

"One never knows what will happen next in the tracks produced by fransia 98, a young Chilean producer from Valparaíso who has been exploring a fusion of Afro-Latin elements and experimental club music bringing an intriguingly rough sound deeply rooted in a digital aesthetics of the post-internet era. From the hills of his hometown he delivers two new tracks, both based on polyrhythmic ideas and full of twists and turns: 'Kiasfera' is a mutant reggaeton song with an Arca-esque feel to it (already been played by Manuka Honey in her mix for fabric London) while 'Inmanencia' picks up the pace with a nod to baile funk, served here in a heavily distorted form."

Shelter presents “Aveen” — the third installation in our genre-agnostic compilation series.

To follow up 2023’s “Feyrûse” and 2024’s “Mizgîn”, we have curated an emotionally charged collection of 17 tracks that press against the debilitating realities of life in the mid-2020s. The title stems from a Persian word meaning “pure” or “transparent” — signaling a search for unfiltered and sincere artistic expression in the midst of a social climate filled with smoke and mirrors.

“Aveen” features Shelter’s most international line-up to date, with music from 18 artists spread across 13 countries and 5 continents displaying their signature sounds shaped by their local scenes and cultures. 

Flowing through mutated shades of ambient, hypnagogic pop, trance, leftfield techno, neo-perreo, and GQOM — the compilation connects the myriad influences and mind-states of electronic musicians from nearly every corner of the world and tethers them together into a cathartic 17-track excursion.
