S-Eight of Wands

Over the weekend, a tiny creature showed up at our home, in need of a little help.  After a day of some care, it scurried away to continue on with life, no worse for the wear.  The experience brought to mind a hymn I used to sing as a child, “All Things Bright & Beautiful." The refrain is probably the most well-known part of the hymn:

“All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.”

The hymn speaks of the wonder of creation as well as the inherent value of life and served as the inspiration for this piano improvisation. The words (but not the original melody) from the refrain are integrated into the composition beginning at the section from :58 – 1:17 and repeating several times thereafter.

What happens if "Dust In the Wind" meets "Classical Gas"?  I sought to answer that profound question one morning when I was riffing on an A-minor chord and couldn't think of another way to describe this acoustic concoction. I couldn't think of a better name for it either, but seemed to have a "ballad" feel to it, either about a hero or villain, I'll let you decide, and maybe catch a "catnap" thinking about it:)

This tune is another variation of an old original piano melody that's gone through several drastic 'evolutions', appearing in a number of my other songs. In this version I'm playing a harp sound on the keyboard run through an arpeggiator. sounds very Enya-esque.

Shout out to Single Use & Recycled. Whilst playing this electric line I'm thinking of them. There is no way I would have tried playing what I tried playing without their direct influence recently. So far I could only dream of expressing on a guitar some of the scaling they can but that highlights for me a few things... Over the decades bands are starting to disappear. Thats an industry driven thing but also a natural bi product of the ability of a band or a huge amount of what a band can do is possible by one person. That sucks for bands but it's very empowering to the individual musician. If you think pre internet, we had hubs of cities and regions where bands were spawned.... SoundCloud is like one big Seattle for me. How I learn everyday from everyones interpretation of music is astounding to me especially given a band was also for me a dream at one point as a boy. In a way even if we aren't directly collaborating it's still like we are all jamming with one another on some level and thats I guess a really positive thing in the light of less actual bands breaking through to mainstream...

I don't think words should ever be taught as bad. Context & frame of reference contain the meaning and intent. Calling words bad and limiting their use is limiting expression in my view. yes we should inspire younger generations to express themselves in more articulate ways but maybe our culture says curses are needed to truly express this reality.

This is an alternate master where the track From the Vaults (2016) was remixed to dial the lead in better which it is.  This is the version that will be the go to in the discography.

Various Tracks 2012-2018 originally released 6/23/22 an album like Into the Vaults with nine rip roaring tracks from the vaults, fully remixed and mastered by me EH, this version has some different tracks then the original as I want to edit some of the original tracks from the album, the new tracks include Might Makes Right and the smoking rocker From the Vaults (2016) which I have lyrics written for a vocal version to be done.  From the heavy power chord opener Fine Line to the crushing Obliterate to the classic hard rocker Take It No More to the driving/smoking rocker From the Vaults, plenty of riff's, power chords sizzling leads backed up with rock solid bass and drums.
