The closing set at the Varden stage is always a special time; Filled with excitement, tears, hugs, and exhaustion, it marks the end of four incredible days at Monument Festival.

This year Japanese maestro Wata Igarashi stepped up and delivered a legendary closing set. A psychedelic vortex of sound thundered across the forest as the dance floor was illuminated in radiant colors and fog, with smiling faces and dancing bodies all around. 

So find your best headphones or sit down in front of your speakers, turn it up, and time travel back to the Forgotten Valley. Guided by our friend, Wata Igarashi. Enjoy.

Voice Fields

Beverly Glenn-Copeland is already known amongst collectors and music heads for two sought-after albums of folky jazz in the key of Joni. But it was this album, originally self-released on cassette in 1986 that really caught our attention. The album, entirely recorded on DX-7 and TR-707, lies somewhere between digital new-age and (accidentally) early Detroit techno experiments. The inimitable style of BGC here is both peaceful and meditative while simultaneously rhythmic and bass heavy. The album was recorded in the northern Canadian town of Huntsville where BGC was living at the time and is a beautiful fusion of personal vision, technology and place.

Elsewhere in the treatise Poimandres also describes the decent of the soul, which takes on the psychological qualities of each planet, to varying degrees, as it passes down through the spheres. It is these qualities and energies that are summarized in the natal horoscope, which charts the moment at which the Soul brings these tendencies into the earthly realm. Each incarnate being therefore sounds, as it were, a different chord of the planetary or psychological harmonies, and it is this that causes musica humana (the music of the human being) to resemble musica mundana (the music of the worlds or spheres). "
