Colleen DuVall connects with Deanna Savage ... Much of the conversation focuses on the annual gala fundraiser and the dozens of people that contributed to its success. But Deanna also opens up about what Savage Support means to her personally and the life fulfillment that she gets from its mission. 

A special treat is a studio version of local musician/singer/songwriter Annie B’s theme song for Savage Support. Annie approached the board with this very unique and generous donation earlier this year and performed the song live at the gala. She is a very special talent. Her song honors the work and beneficiaries of our organization like nothing else. I know that it’s often said: “Don’t miss it!” regarding the podcasts but really, I mean really, don’t miss this one.

A true success story, Stefanie started High Brow Boutique almost 13 years ago as a single practitioner in 300 sq ft to now employing 17 professionals with 3000 sq ft. Offering clean esthetics for women and men, Stefanie's generous Matching Charity of the Month program started 10 years ago fundraising for Milwaukee's Journey House. Since then, each employee selects a charity they are passionate about and for a 2nd year, the month of October benefits Savage Support as selected by Board Member Amanda Wisth. 

Listen as Stefanie shares the family aspect of friendship and her love for both Amanda and Cindy Wisth. We are beyond grateful for her big heart in making so many of Milwaukee's charitable organizations stronger. Colleen DuVall connects with Melodie Pryor ... owner of The Buzzards Nest in West Allis, WI
Originally from Cleveland, OH, Melodie and her husband Larry moved to Milwaukee in 2013. They purchased a bar renaming it The Buzzards Nest, inspired by Larry’s college nickname.

Both dart enthusiasts, they host tournaments and leagues nearly every day for experts and beginners. Of course, the Packer games air along with Sunday night karaoke or a “Piano Man” performance. Once a year, Melodie and Larry fundraise to help those with breast cancer, this year the 9th annual “Nest for Breasts” benefited Savage Support with $3,500! As a person who has helped others through treatment, Melodie understands the impact breast cancer has on a person and life as we know it.

Originally from Milwaukee, Wesley is a motivated, energetic hometown guy who joined the Savage Support Board of Directors in the autumn of 2023 - AND just became a new father! His background includes an electrical engineering degree from UWM with experience in industrial automation. His goals are to increase the exposure of our organization in metro Milwaukee neighborhoods, attracting volunteers, donors, and fundraising opportunities to grow our number of beneficiaries. Wesley also volunteers with Friends LaFollette Park in West Allis, and in 2021 was voted as Treasurer of the nonprofit.

His message: Don’t expect of others what you can’t already expect of yourself. Find 1 or 2 simple ways to give back to the community to create a much happier world.

Colleen DuVall talks with Zoe Braun ... owner of Tiger Lily Collective. 
Zoe is a Board-Certified Cosmetic Tattoo Artist. During the pandemic, she took a leap of faith from her safe corporate job in finance to study permanent makeup, further pursuing paramedical tattooing: specifically 3D areola tattooing for post-mastectomy surgery. Zoe’s passion is tattooing, but her purpose is helping people. 

She also spends her time as a Board Member with WGirls Milwaukee: a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit that primarily serves women and children. This year, their Annual Event: Enchanted Forest at South Second will benefit the nonprofit Fostering Community. She also works with Urban Cat Coalition in the office and as a foster mom to kitties!

We’re a nonprofit organization helping people through the day to day life needs while fighting breast cancer.

Our podcasts are created and produced by Colleen Duvall, a freelance writer with a master's in digital communication strategies from Marquette University. She also has an intriguing background in filmmaking, acting, directing and art.

Colleen has been published in Backlog Magazine, Riverwest Currents, Natural Awakenings, Wisconsin Natural Resources, The Washington Heights Highlighter, Fate, PanGaia, Crone, Alcoholmanac, and Feminist Voices (Madison). Her first novel was an e-book offered at Whispers Publishing until 2012.

Besides writing and producing plays and short films, Colleen has acted for theater, film, and local commercials. Her theater troupe in Chicago was known as The Black Cat Productions. One of their adaptations, "White Zombie," was written up in the book of the same title by Gary D. Rhodes (©2001, McFarland & Company, Inc., Publishers). "You Bet Your Sweet Patootie!" was featured in the New York International Independent Film Festival in 2003.
