A few months ago Counter Culture debuted with Goldfat on Nuggets 01 and we enjoyed his flavour so much we invited him back for his own release. He has crafted 2 unique and beautiful cuts that we simply cant get enough of and were happy introduce another member of the #fatfam.

‘Evolution Dub’ shows its intent from the edge with its spacious, menacing soundscapes. Snappy rolling drums work their magic against the vast dub atmospherics as a deep voice reaching through talks of ‘music and change’. When the warm sub bass drops you cant help but picture sound systems and dub culture that has so clearly influenced this track. Scotch Bonnet fiery vibes King Tubby would appreciate!

‘You And & Me’ delivers something more akin to his Nuggets 01 cut. Influences of Techno, R&B and Dub melt into this gorgeous, chunky, funk oozing number. This is wavy music so what ever is your tipple or flavour this will be a wonderful accompaniment. Music to get lifted too!

Ulterior Motives are proud to present a fresh set of versions derived from DJ Persuasion’s Moon Blues (Get Ill).

Dev/Null and Tim Reaper bring a dark, grime-inspired drum & bass workout to the track, featuring razor-sharp breaks and a late-night urban atmosphere.
Liftin’ Spirits (aka Ant Miles of Origin Unknown), donning his Ironic pseudonym for the first time in many years, provides a rolling VIP that stays close to the original but elevates it.
Friske, one of the most enigmatic artists in drum & bass today, who has remained firmly under the radar despite collaborations with artists like Goldie, offers a reflective, refined rendition reminiscent of Subject 13 and Arctix.
In addition to the three remixes, Persuasion adds a new track, Marked, which rounds off the EP with fierce drums and the “Demon Poetry” sample that inspired the NTS Radio show of the same name.

New Zealand based nice guy Monika and American graphic designer and cat enthusiast Akuratyde have teamed up again, with their first efforts of 2021 resulting in this inviting 2-track offering. The transpacific pair have developed an unlikely friendship through the combined parallels of drum & bass and the internet over the last few years, with their first contact appearing on Monika’s ‘Himalaya’ in 2018. Autumn 2020 saw a 4-track outing on Fokuz Recordings, and the duo are further building on this newfound sound with more releases lined up in the coming months, much to our delight. With a sublime supporting cast, strap in for a punchy pair of tracks that will ignite their 2021 schedule. 

On ‘Haunted (feat. Oktae)’ the pair team up with frequent collaborator Oktae. Her calming, relaxed tone and conversational writing style bring a very inviting element to the track. The duo have cultivated warm sonics and chiming tones to provide a perfect platform for the British vocalist. 

For the B-side ‘Soul On Fire (feat. Askel & Elere)’ they linked up with Finnish family in the form of Askel & Elere. Any self respecting Soulvent fan will undoubtedly be familiar with these newly signed Scandinavians. The resulting track combines emotionally charged lyrics along with a churning, warped bassline and fully fledged breaks. This 4-way international link up delivers an interesting blend of influences and textures, that brings out the best of the full quartet. 

This eerie yet melancholic 2-track match up is available in all good stores from the 19th March 2021.

Andrei Duruș, professionally known as Scatterbrain, is a talented Romanian drum & bass producer and DJ with an impressive track record, having released music on well-regarded labels including Galacy, Fokuz, and Rene LaVice's DeVice. His unique sound is influenced by industry pioneers such as Technimatic, Netsky, and Calibre, blending technical skill with creativity.

In 2024, Andrei marked a major milestone by performing his debut international gig in Prague, adding to his growing presence in Romania at iconic venues such as Arenele Romane, Expirat, and Club Quantic. In 2025, he played at Electric Castle Festival, the place where he fell in love with drum & bass in 2016, this marking a major milestone for his artistic career.  With each new release, Scatterbrain continues to solidify his standing in the drum & bass scene, and his passion for innovation promises an exciting future in the electronic music industry.
