The music I chose for the set is a journey through my different styles and preferences that I like to combine in a long set.
Sometimes dark and demanding and sometimes trippy und playful. 
For my definition of DJing this is the challenge to tell a story with my music.

The last year was a caesura for the whole electronic music culture worldwide and I hope that we can experience our culture together again soon. 
It is so important and holds our society together and gives people courage and confidence in these difficult times.

For me personally I try to get something positive out of this situation by being in the studio as much as possible. In addition, I am currently building up a lot with our new club label Kiosk ID, which I run together with Mira, and last year we caused quite a stir with our compilations „Give ‚em a future & 43 Katzen tanzen auf’m Tisch“ to save our club Kater Blau in Berlin.

Today, Amavii resides in Berlin where she is guesting clubs such as Golden Gate, Ritter Butzke, Fiese Remise, Anomalies, Void and Suicide Circus.
Amavii’s eclectic music and style consistently gives the dance floor an element of surprise. She seamlessly weaves together deep, progressive, sensual, punchy, energetic and addictive experiences.

Amavii - Tech Clubbers Podcast #194

Corin is a Filipino-Australian artist based in Melbourne. Her mix for the Unsound podcast series is an attempt to represent the sonic world of 'Enantiodromia', her recent release on UIQ, and includes tracks from the EP as well a selection of music from around the globe.  
Corin describes her mix as made up of 'shadow opposites, sonic alchemy, humanoid drums, sound design and spatiality. An exploration into digital matter as sentient beings. Industrial percussion in a trance-like state, producing a sort of future ritualism'.
Corin is part of the lineup at Unsound X MAAD at Illuminate Adelaide on July 31st.

The NTS resident Corin Ileto not only recorded a fresh podcast but is also on her way to Kaunas, Lithuania, to perform at a new festival called Optimismo. It’s a joint venture between Digital Tsunami, a fellow promoter team Ghia and the program of Kaunas - European Capital of Culture. The festival scheduled for June 3-5 is part of Modernism for the Future, a special branch dedicated to establishing new relationships with urban heritage. Corin seemed like a perfect choice for the event’s lineup - here’s why.

The Filipina-Australian electronic producer, composer and performer working in the field of performance art, sound design, theatre and club spaces, is interested in her cultural connections to the Philippines, her mother’s birthplace and the landscape connected to it. “I’ve already begun to hear how it is influencing my creative output. Over the next year, I hope to produce an entire album which explores this connection”, said Corin in her recent interview with 15 questions. We asked her some more questions about that while listening to her selection.

This week on Select 202, we have DJ Corin IIeto, aka CORIN, the Filipina-Australian electronic music producer, composer, and regular monthly host on London’s NTS Radio who is best known for merging classic Western music with hyper-electronic sounds to create immersive soundscapes. Drawing inspiration from her multi-cultural heritage and mythology elements from science fiction, CORIN’s distinctive mixes feature an assemblage of converging styles, ranging from IDM, EBM, trance, and baroque-laden ambience.

In her hour-long Select session, CORIN has mixed a selection of tracks from various compilations, which have been released recently to raise funds for Palestine, such as Paralaxe Editions’ ‘For Palestine’, Mrama Division’s ‘By All Means’, and Cease 2 Exist’s ‘Emergency For Gaza’.

With driving bass lines and futuristic sounds tinged with a little bit of acid and psytrance, CORIN creates a mythical hypnotic set, borrowing sounds from multiple famous tunes including Van Boom’s ‘No Empathy’, Oldyungmayn’s ‘Scrattch’, Toumba’s ‘Adrift’, Spivak’s ‘Mall Pals’, Joachim Nordwall’s ‘Desperatio’, and STILL’s ‘The Sword and the Neck’, among many others.

Select 202: Mixed by CORIN

CORIN is Corin Ileto - a Filipina-Australian electronic producer, composer, DJ and performer working in theater and club spaces. Her productions and live performances are an assemblage of converging styles moving in between industrial percussion, celestial trance, and baroque-laden ambience. In her compositions, traditional forms merge with hyper-digital sounds to create cinematic imaginary realms. 

Her seminal releases include Manifest LP (Bedouin Records, 2019), Enantiodromia EP - released on Lee Gamble's iconic label UIQ (2021), and Araw EP (2021). In 2023, she released her sophomore album Lux Aeterna on UIQ which was accompanied by a performance fx video and a live AV performance which toured across Europe including Berlin Atonal (Berlin), Lunchmeat Festival (Prague), L.E.V. Matadero (Madrid), Robot Festival (Bologna) and W.O.S. Festival (Santiago de Compostela). Based in Sydney, she has garnered praise across Australia, performing at Unsound Festival (Adelaide), Soft Centre Festival (Sydney) and Dark Mofo (Hobart).

As a DJ, CORIN has appeared at respected venues including Berghain (Berlin), Final (Taipei) and Garage Noord (Amsterdam). Her style of DJing is a dynamic eclectic high-energy mix showcasing some of her favourite left-field producers and labels from the global south. Since 2020, CORIN has hosted a regular show on NTS Radio inviting diverse producers to share guest mixes including Tygapaw, Imaabs, Lawrence Lek, x/o and Animistic Beliefs.

As a composer and sound designer, Ileto works across a broad spectrum ranging from video, theater and surround sound installations often collaborating with dancer Angela Goh, Filipinx artist Phasmahammer and queer Asia-Pacific diasporic collective Club Ate.

Melbourne musician Corin has created a soundtrack to go to war over. Describing it as music for “a dystopian future, hell on earth.” she explains it’s “a tribute to the anti-heroes of cyberpunk narratives; villains, misfits and dissenters.” Sounds like our kind of crew.

Marwa Belhaj Youssef made a selection of experimental sounds with noisy and creepy voices in order to highlight the beauty of violence of those sounds mixed at different bpms.

Fatalism is Salem Rashid's studio and live project. The 30 mins of music here were recorded as a one take, with no additional processing, using only 3 pieces of hardware and a bass guitar ran through a pedalboard.

Marwa Belhaj Youssef is a Tunisian based DJ. Her mixes are mental selections highlighting the beauty and violence of sounds. She is a resident artist at Ma3azef Radio (Tunis) and Movement Radio (Athens). She works as a booker agent at Lyl Radio where her personal goal is to support Arab artists.
